I like how John Bolton is now a part of the White House furniture.

A prop much like the plane model and the diet coke button as an easter egg or reference to earlier seasons for the fans.

On July 9, John Delaney's senior team sat him down and told him to drop out of the presidential race by mid-August, according to three sources close to the campaign.

Why it matters: He's been running for president for 721 days. He's spent nearly $19 million as a 2020 candidate since 2017. He's loaned over $11 million of his own money to his campaign this year. He's visited all of Iowa's 99 counties already, including at least 14 stops in Carroll Country alone. And it's all been for nothing.

“I think a lot of people who did leave thought, 'You gotta eat. You need a paycheck.' So that was a big part of it,” said a former staffer.

The backdrop: Those close to him think there's no chance he makes the September debates, which have a harder qualification threshold than the first two.

They thought he flopped at the first debate in Miami. "There was no real breakout moment, which is what everyone in leadership had been hoping for," said one former staffer.
“Every other day he would have a different position,” whether on economic policies or racial issues. That's a common refrain that came up in my conversations with these sources close to the campaign, who asked to remain anonymous for fear of retribution.
Some said he's not spending enough money to run a competitive race, and that all the money he's spent so far hasn't moved the needle for them.
One source close to the campaign argued he'd be better positioned to run for governor or get a Cabinet position if he drops out before September.
And others, who made sure to tell me they "genuinely" like the guy, painted Delaney to be the most Republican-Democrat who's just "not made for the moment."
One source familiar with the meeting said Delaney seemed open to the idea of dropping out later this summer, but that he'd still attend the next debates in Detroit July 30-31.

Two sources said that Delaney's wife, April, was in the room, too, as she often is during official campaign meetings — even though she doesn't work for the campaign.
All three sources described the unusual role April played in Delaney's presidential campaign. "She’s basically running the thing," said one former staffer.
Between the lines: The tension between Delaney and his staff comes from a larger feeling that he's been easily influenced by "outside" forces, like his wife or his friends, rather than his own staff.

Yes, but: Not all was bad. Ahmed El-Sayed who worked with Delaney's campaign in various capacities through the end of May, said "he’d make a really good president. ... He’s probably one of the smartest people I’ve met."

FWIW: Delaney has been polling between 0% and 1% since the beginning of 2017.

14 stops in Carroll County is insane. There's nothing there. There's not even anything in the surrounding area either. I've lived in Iowa most of my life, a good portion in that corner of the state and including stints in political field work, and I haven't been to Carroll County 14 times.

So CNN’s panel spent several excited segments speculating about a drawing that the network controlled and could have completed before the first ad break. “This is the luck of the draw, literally,” Gloria Borger informed us. John King broke out his magic screen to highlight potential matchups by scrawling the word “Vs.” Wolf Blitzer added whatever quotient of this-is-big-news-because-Wolf-Blitzer-is-here that his presence implies.

It was a rare chance to see a network generate punditry and render it useless in real time. When the drawing was two-thirds done, CNN’s political director, David Chalian, declared, “Tuesday night is going to be moderate night!” Then, left-leaning Senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren were added to the lineup, and suddenly it wasn’t.

There's no way he won't win.

In 2016 all that were left to support him in the final stretch were a few trolls, Roger Stone, some underpaid Russian hackers and a bunch grifters while news media kept the Access Hollywood Tape running on repeat.

In 2020 he has the support of the GOP, his own acting government, the US military, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Fox News, North Korea and over 500 nuclear warheads at his disposal.

Funny CNN had Dickie on.
His Twitter has given me a few laughs, like the time he took the stance if it wasn't for the States having a sizable non-white population, they would invade Iran. That and how they need to address the "White Question" (warmongering/belligerence).

It is reassuring to see neo-nazis dysfunctional and sometimes almost self aware.

Donald Trump and Barack Obama ended up at the same barber shop. As they sat there, each being worked on by a different barber, not a word was spoken. The barbers were both afraid to start a conversation, for fear that it would turn nasty.

As the barbers finished their shaves in silence, the one who had Trump in his chair reached for the aftershave. But Donald was quick to stop him, jokingly saying, "No thanks. My wife, Melania, will smell that and think I've been in a brothel."

The second barber turned to Barack and said, "How about you, Mr. Obama?" Barack replied, "Go right ahead, my wife, Michelle, doesn't know what the inside of a brothel smells like."

It's pretty fair game to bash Trump, but I don't see why people feel free to treat Melania like trash. And occasionally Baron, neither do much aside from exist as far as I know.
I supposed it did happen for Michelle too, but I found that gross too.

None of this means jack shit in an election. Unless you are hoping there is more foreign influence in the election.

He may win, but his odds are worse now than they were in 16. He already lost the popular vote and lost a lot more voters than he gained since getting elected. Michigan, PA, and Wisconsin flipped back to blue less than 2 years after his election.

This is what matters in our election. Not other governments, the military, and a fake news station.
