January 2020
- Congress and Senate pass the bipartisan "Privatization of Government Property Act" in order to balance the budget, redundant and vacated government properties are to be sold
- Donald Jr. and Mnuchin announce the Trump Organization has bought the White House, the Washington monument and the surrounding areas. Ivanka boasts the Trumps will turn it into the biggest and most luxurious golf resort the world has ever seen
- Trump continues to Make America Great Again from inside the White House and has told aides he will refuse to leave because it is now his property
- Joe Biden does not remember running for President let alone winning the election.
- Vice President Elect Warren, attempting to take-over from President-elect Biden is rebuked by Centrist Democrats and Republicans for trying to turn America into a socialist state
- Mitch McConnell calls the Democratic party 'broken beyond repair' and tables a motion to allow Donald Trump to remain President until the constitutional crisis is solved in order to stabilize the markets
quoted because you wrote 2020 instead of 2021 lol

Quote
Nine Democratic candidates for president have qualified for next month's Climate Crisis Town Hall, which will air exclusively on CNN platforms, and eight of them have said they will participate.

CNN is devoting the evening of Sept. 4 to the climate crisis. Eight of the Democratic candidates have accepted CNN's invitation to discuss this critically important issue: former Vice President Joe Biden; Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey; South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg; Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota; former Rep. Beto O'Rourke of Texas; Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont; Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts; and businessman Andrew Yang.

Citing a scheduling conflict, Sen. Kamala Harris of California declined CNN's invitation.

CNN anchors Erin Burnett, Anderson Cooper, Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon will moderate individual candidate segments, and CNN Chief Climate Correspondent Bill Weir will join in the questioning throughout the event.
Quote
Candidates have until Wednesday to qualify for this town hall. CNN will extend invitations to Democratic presidential hopefuls who reach 2% in at least four Democratic National Committee-approved polls conducted between June 28 and Aug. 21.

White House officials eyeing payroll tax cut in effort to reverse weakening economy
https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/white-house-officials-eyeing-payroll-tax-cut-in-effort-to-reverse-weakening-economy/2019/08/19/4cab28ec-c2bd-11e9-b72f-b31dfaa77212_story.html?noredirect=on

Quote
Several senior White House officials have begun discussing whether to push for a temporary payroll tax cut as a way to arrest an economic slowdown, three people familiar with the discussions said, revealing growing concerns about the economy among President Trump’s top economic aides.

The talks are still in their early stages and have included a range of other tax breaks. The officials also have not decided whether to formally push Congress to approve any of these measures, these people said, speaking on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to disclose internal discussions. But the White House in recent days has begun searching for proposals that could halt a slowing economy.

Quote
Discussing whether to cut payroll taxes is part of a rapidly evolving effort within the White House to both exude confidence about the economy’s strength while simultaneously hunting for ways to rescue business and consumer confidence. Business spending already has pulled back, in part because of fears about the trade war, but consumer spending has remained robust. If ordinary Americans begin to tighten their belts later this year, the economy could suffer new strain.

Millions of Americans pay a “payroll tax” on their earnings, a 6.2 percent levy that is used to finance Social Security programs. The payroll tax was last cut in 2011 and 2012 during the Obama administration to 4.2 percent, as a way to encourage more consumer spending during the recent economic downturn. But the cut was allowed to reset back up to 6.2 percent in 2013.

Say what you will about the Bush administration, at least they were consistent. I see no consistency here, just a constant attempt to hide the fact that the basement is on fire and it's time to exit the fucking building. Consumer spending is at a good point right now, despite the tariffs. Any modest stimulus provided by a payroll tax cut could easily be eaten up by tariffs, especially as Trump dangles more and more threats. This is nonsense. There is no policy.

I recently watched a documentary called 'The Big Panic' about Paulson, Geitner, Bernanke etc. and how they handled the 2008 crash. They might've not done everything right but at that time they made the right call to 'save the system' and tried to limit the damage as all three had studied economic crises, recessions and whatnot. Bush was also interviewed and he didn't like the bailouts but he said that it was more important than his own popularity or any election and decided to do whatever he could as President to deal with the situation. Behind the scenes Obama's team and Paulson already were in contact to make sure the transition from the Obama to Bush would be well organized.

If a new crisis pops up it'll be up to a bunch of drunk circus clowns and the producer of the LEGO movie to save the global economy.

Worth noting no one is saying this is going to be a 2008 tier recession/implosion. The US economy has a recession about every decade...none of them were as bad as 2008, you'd have to go back to the Great Depression to compare. It won't be pretty and it'll end somebody's presidency...but I don't think it's going to be the big one, as Redd Foxx would say.

One of the few times I got angry NeoGAF.com PMs was when I argued for that and also the time for essentially a UBI system. :lol

Though a philosophical anarchist who says to quote whatever it is "well, if you're going to do this bloody stupid thing don't do it in such a bloody stupid way" with what would be considered far-left programs for an American context is probably pretty disarming for a narrow Democratic Party Line forum.

They never really understood my open borders position either. :doge :doge

Quote
Julián Castro, who previously served as the San Antonio mayor and Housing and Urban Development secretary, is announcing an ambitious animal welfare plan Monday as part of his presidential campaign. The plan, which the campaign provided exclusively to HuffPost, calls for ending the euthanization of domestic dogs and cats in shelters and seeks to improve federal housing policy for those with pets. It also says Castro would sign into law legislation that would make animal cruelty a federal crime, establish federal minimums for space for farm animals, prohibit the testing of cosmetic products on animals, and ban the unlicensed ownership of large cats like lions and tigers.

Castro’s plan, called “PAW: Protecting Animals and Wildlife,” is the only comprehensive and detailed animal welfare plan released by any of the presidential candidates.
Quote
Castro’s plan calls for $40 million in federal funding for a “Local Animal Communities Grant Program,” which would help defray the costs of vaccinating, spaying and neutering animals. The money would also go toward programs that promote animal adoption.

The plan also says that new affordable housing units will be pet-friendly. As part of his campaign, Castro has laid out a housing plan that would create 3 million new affordable housing units over 10 years. Castro also says he will work with homeless shelters that receive federal support to “ensure pets belonging to homeless individuals seeking refuge are not prohibited entry.”
