God, today reminds me why I HATE Democrats. This entire PLEASE VOTE DEMOCRAT NO MATTER WHAT. I have done that my entire life. What has improved because of it? Jack SHIT. Democrats can say republicans are cultish all they want talking about DESTROYING OUR DemoCRaCy while always guilt tripping people into voting the way they feel. What democracy? Oh the democracy that guilt trips you for not wanting to vote for some no name fuck that helped delay polling results, invested in the voting app that failed, and is now mysteriously in the lead.

Between the impeachment, the state of the union, Buttigieg, delaying Iowa I am BEYOND stressed today and on the verge of a meltdown. I want to throw my phone on the GODDAMN CONCRETE.

I want to do something.  Are phone banking and text banking actually very helpful?

My one time phone banking for Obama it was 2/3 people yelling at me, 1/3 people who were already voting for him anyway.

oh, so you need someone to do something like this?
I'm never voting for a Republican ever again after this and as much as I disagree/dislike the Democrats on many issues (their cock sucking of Biden and "moderates" for one, their war tendencies that are just as hawkish as the GOP for two) they really are the better of the two parties.

I'm so far away from the gun issue it's not even on my mind anymore. America is at stake.
Republicans are traitors. Vote every R out.

https://theoutline.com/post/8636/acronym-shadow-iowa-caucus-results-disaster
Quote
Acronym, as the group’s founder and CEO Tara McGowan has told seemingly any reporter who would listen in the last year, was supposed to shake up Democratic politics. Faced with Republican opponents that now actually know how to campaign on social media, the non-profit digital strategy organization intended to offer an effective Democratic countermeasure, guided by digitally savvy hands of the Obama 2012 and Clinton 2016 campaigns.

After the disastrous Iowa Caucus on Monday, it’s hard to imagine that anyone is buying this story now. A faulty smartphone app, developed by the Acronym subsidiary “Shadow,” failed to correctly tabulate Iowa caucus votes. Though the Iowa Democratic Party says the vote counts are unaffected, the confusion has given ailing campaigns room to maneuver that they otherwise wouldn’t have had. Pete Buttigieg took the opportunity to declare victory, apparently based on nothing more than a gut feeling. Joe Biden, who has been slipping in polls for the past couple weeks, has asked for the actual votes to be invalidated.

According to an Acronym staffer, who spoke under condition of anonymity because of a non-disclosure agreement, Acronym is “far and away the most disorganized place I've ever been a part of.”
Quote
Launched ahead of the 2018 midterms, Acronym was described initially as a “digital-first startup” (in the words of Axios), co-founded by McGowan and Michael Dubin, the founder of the men’s grooming company Dollar Shave Club whom you might recognize from their ads. McGowan, who previously worked as the digital director of the Obama and Clinton-affiliated Super PAC Priorities USA Action, was able to bring in money for Acronym’s affiliated political action committee Pacronym from a variety of well-known wealthy Democratic funders, including the billionaires George Soros and Marsha Laufer.

Acronym’s actual headcount is difficult to determine because of the hiring spree the company has been on in the last few months. In November, McGowan told the Times that Acronym and Pacronym had raised 40 percent of a planned $75 million, with the goal of deploying that money on anti-Trump advertising in five key battleground states: North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Arizona, an effort called “Four is Enough" (based on the logic that only four of these five states are required to win a national election).

What distinguishes Acronym, McGowan told the Times, is the flexibility offered by its 501(c)(4) “dark money structure” — beyond the obvious advantages of being able to collect virtually unlimited dollars with no required disclosures. A flattering profile (“An A student with an attitude”) of McGowan that appeared on Ozy.com last September described Acronym as having “a web of for-profit companies beneath it,” one of which was “a political tech company with a peer-to-peer texting product” — Shadow.

Although this structure makes it seem that Acronym has the ability to reinvest whatever profits it makes, the Acronym staffer said it manifested as organizational chaos.

“They call it a ‘startup environment’ as an explanation for why no one knows what's happening,” the staffer said.
Quote
McGowan’s theory of how digital campaigning works — churning out content for mass reach on social media — has gotten significant media play. In two  separate  Times articles published within a week of each other this past November, McGowan explained that the Democrats and their donors needed to get smart about digital. “We don’t need to spread lies or play to people’s insecurities to win, we just need to compete and get our message to voters every single day where they get their information,” she told the Times on November 1. “Right now, we’re not even on the field.”

“Trump has upped the ante by spending more than any candidate this early in a general election campaign,” she told the Times three days later, “and right now our side is simply not on the field.”

As described by the Acronym staffer, McGowan and Acronym were hardly competing on the field she described. Staffers hired to churn out digital content sat in a room for at least a week, given no direction about what to do. There wasn’t a clear understanding about what the content strategy was supposed to achieve.
Quote
These missteps are also not limited to ideas being badly executed — the problem is that the ideas were bad in the first place. A key project McGowan announced in a glossy Bloomberg Businessweek  profile in November was the launch of Courier Newsroom, a center-left content network designed to mimic the aesthetics of local news sites, which McGowan cheerfully spun as a replacement for actual local news.

As a digital strategy firm, Acronym’s idea of how to win the digital “war” against Donald Trump in 2020 also reflects this blinkered thinking. Much like Hillary Clinton’s doomed 2016 effort to campaign against “Dangerous Donald” — and to focus messaging on why Trump is a uniquely bad guy — McGowan (whom the staffer describes has an aggressive hand in Acronym’s content production) told the Times that Democrats must tell “a powerful, true, cohesive story about why this guy is dangerous.”

And whatever special alchemy to reach people that Acronym claims to possess, a Tuesday Daily Beast investigation notes, they don’t appear to have actually tried to tell that “powerful” story: the group reportedly only disbursed about $200,000 of the $1 million they had promised to spend on impeachment advertising against Trump.

I've not exactly hidden that Sanders has been my preferred candidate for two cycles now. :doge
wut
I mean of The Party candidates I guess?

Ooo

I assumed that you just enjoyed watching everything from a detached point of view.

Did you happen to watch the Reason debate featuring Richard Wolff? He was weirdly angry the whole time and the libertarian debating him reminded me of you.
Well, I mean, I do. But I do find little events and pieces to root for. It's like in the NBA, I support whoever is against the Lakers. Or Kevin Durant. Or I'm for Mike Budenholzer teams. Or Billups when he got traded, or Andre if he does.

No, I haven't watched or even looked at much reason content lately. Been focused on history stuff more. Don't really like libertarian debates either as they're kinda pure cringe unless they transcend it into quality epic cringe. But I do like watching people get angry so I might poke around through it. Also to find out why this guy reminds of me I guess.

edit: found the debate, "capitalism vs. socialism", the top comment was this:

What have Democrats ever done for you? I don't know - your most important issues seem to be gun rights and Catholicism

Anti-War and anti-American interventionism/imperialism
Drug war
Student loans
Corporate money in politics
Healthcare

Guns used to be important. They still are, but I'm at a point where I no longer care and I've reverted to my bread and butter: Anti-War, drug war, healthcare, corruption.

Democrats are bad on literally all of the issues I just listed. I voted third party in 2012 to protest Obama because of it. When obama was campaigning people made excuses for his administrations having terrorist lists and kill lists that killed innocent people. Mandark and I fought over it heavily. The iraq war is the main way I got into politics, something many Democrats defended once Obama was president despite protesting while Bush was in office. This is a big reason I supported Tulsi before she proved herself non-viable and before I learned her secret Imperialism.

Democrats do good things, but most of it is muddy. You mention sanctuary states but Obama administration deported an insane amount of immigrants.

For the issues I've cared about Democrats have always been lesser than shit. ACA was a good step forward but I'm currently paying nearly 300 dollars a month for a plan with a 6k deductible. Even Obama's main legacy is shit.

So when Democrats started to rally against guns during a time when they were calling the current administration Nazi's it was pretty easy to drop them.

On all the issues I listed Democrats have refused to budge on the national level because they benefit from the money from big pharma and and wars. The democrats have  had a mentality that is utterly stuck in the status quo. Any reason I vote for democrats now, unless they prove themselves to actually change as a party, is only s temporary truce between the two of us.

I've disliked democrats since at least 2009 or 2010 and haven't identified as one since 2009.

I'll grant that maybe my perception of democrats is because I've lived in red states my whole life besides a short stint in NY. I have no idea what state democrat governance is even like to live under.

Edit: and the most infuriating thing about the democrats is how they always offer change while saying they'll do jack shit to change anything. Democrats always go for symptoms. They never really want to fix the issue wholesale because then that's one less reason to vote for them. Look at Biden, Klobuchar, Buttigieg. They embody all of this.

I honestly cannot wait to leave Texas and finally get to register myself with a big, fat, I next to it.
