After losing an election for multiple reasons liberals have retreated and started to become absolutely puerile in their philosophy. I realized after the election that it showed how weak and infallible the state is if someone like Trump can be elected. Liberals refuse to take any part in accepting that our method of communication, talking down to people, arrogantly kicking people we don't agree with off our social media, blaming each and every thing except Clinton and her campaign for why the democrats lost the election. When I felt after the election I needed to buy a gun for self defense purposes similar "allies" attempted to throw me under the bus and classify me as stupid and anti-intellectual for wanting one.

With some self reflection after the election, the loss was deserved, the arrogance was real, and I've truly become to realize how weak neo liberalism truly is as a philosophy, that empathizes only with people they agree with, who so ostensibly think they have the answers for all people. We were temporary allies in the fight against Donald Trump but two weeks ago, because of what I saw in the minds and behavior of liberals I decided to end my relationship with the Democratic Party. Before the election I was more of a Marxist but more and more I am starting to relate to libertarian socialism of the Chomsky school, although I refuse to put all my eggs in one basket. Liberals are indeed ideologically weak but telling them to grow balls and stuff just doesn't make you look remotely good, especially since pointing fingers and laughing is what liberals do and you should be above it. Rather than descend into their tactics, rise above it, and fight it with argumentation.

It isn't really a knee jerk. The election was two months ago and liberals have shown what kind of people they are after the fact. AiA is right on this topic.

I've also been socialist since 2013. So it's really not a new thing either. The election didn't make me non-socialist. I was a socialist working with liberals.

If Bernie had run and lost the narrative would be that's what you get for electing a socialist for your party. That's what's wonderful about elections. Every rando (including myself) is suddenly an expert on what it takes to win an election and what is the narrative to learn from any election.

blaming each and every thing except Clinton and her campaign for why the democrats lost the election.

No one does this. She ran a poor campaign. She also got railroaded with the help of a complicit media, and completely fucked over twice by an FBI Director who abused his authority in July, and violated the Hatch Act in October. All of these things can be true.

Your statement here sounds like one of those fucktarded redditors that wants all Clinton supporters to apologize to them for not voting Bernie in the primary.

I disagree. From what I've seen they blame everything but Clinton and the campaign and DNC.  They especially blame Comey and the Trump "racists" who voted for him. Hillary and her own campaign still refuse to accept their contribution to their loss. That said, the DNC has had a few shakings so it's certainly not 100%, and maybe it's influenced by my social media, but yes, I have observed that most liberals are incapable of blaming Clinton and her campaign - for which they placed tremendous faith in - for the adding to the loss. They also aren't aware of, or are completely doubling down in the all or nothing smug rhetoric from pre-election. In some cases it's used as a coping mechanism, but in cases like this thread act like a very excellent case study of the behavior I've observed.

Who said I wanted an apology? LOL. I voted for Bernie and Clinton. Get real. Your post sounds like a deflection more than anything else.

You are in a bubble. Or you are not understanding the very human nature of how people deal with stuff after a defeat which happens every 4 years for one side. But then again twitter or facebook are about the least receptive places to understand nuance. People have many different views on this subject. Some also feel legit disgusted with certain tactics on the other side. Some have very legit complaints about the campaign that was run. The fact that you don't see how people can hold both and more viewpoints is odd. Hence the himu taking a walk in the part meme.

Oh. I understand the human nature element of it. I very much think you can hold both viewpoints. I'm a socialist who voted for Hillary Clinton. I'm surrounded by people who voted third party and opted for what I felt to be the most practical choice. I'm also surrounded by people who were 100% Democrat all the way and if you don't vote for Hillary you're a racist. The fact you think I am not knowledgeable about this, despite tossing away many of my own principles for the greater good (voting for Clinton) makes me think you don't know a thing about me, honestly. Or maybe I'm not articulating myself well. Basically, I have no qualms if someone voted for Hillary. I did the very thing. What I'm talking about is behavior, before and after. You say I'm in a bubble but this exists way outside of my bubble as well.

It's a character a British journalist does. The whole approach he takes is interesting. It's staged, but it's the first positive use of post-irony that I have seen. It mixes in a bit of gonzo, the "rant" performance, and breaking the passive social media experience by making the viewer aware of the cameraman as filter. It's message being "this is staged character, but still somehow sincere."

I am combating the very type of mindset that lead me to believe those things i did. In my case, it was liberals who influenced me to have those beliefs. Once I realized how wrong they were, I realized how liberals are as well. Maybe it isn't liberals, maybe it's sjw's. I don't know. But the people I know who act like this identify as liberals on and offline, and they influenced me to think like this. Observing how they've reacted after the election, I've been able to see first hand how they did it: with division. These people I'm talking about are the people who said to cut out anyone in your social group who didn't support BLM, who supported Trump, et al. After seeing how they behave after the election, and to recognize that type of mindset probably contributed to the loss, they doubled down on it. This exists beyond my circle, and is seen in media as well.

Maybe you're right. I'll consider it. No one has told me about liberals like this. Honestly, this is a part of *my* election coming to terms. I still can't believe that democrats put all their eggs in one basket, claimed to speak for us, claimed to protect us and then screwed the pooch. With such high stakes, they should have been primed on winning. Instead, I lose protections when Trump is elected. So yeah, I'm pissed at liberals and especially Clinton defenders.

again, if democrats KNEW this would happen. WHY did they allow Clinton to run such a paltry campaign? If the stakes were THAT high? Do they not care about minorities as much as they say while running on a platform that was identity politics focused? Or did they arrogantly think they could win without visiting most of the country despite running a flawed candidate? Questions worth asking.

She lost to a guy with the highest unfavorables ever, who was dealing with an October Surprise video of him talking about sexually assaulting women. While her campaign was indeed trash at this point you also have to acknowledge she was simply a bad candidate, running at the worst possible time. And I see no alternate reality way to change her getting the nomination. Unless she was put in jail in 2015, Biden ran and beat Sanders for the nom.

Biden wasn't going to beat her and has never done well in a democrat (presidential) primary. Unless you completely prevent her from running there was no way to prevent her winning the nom.

I'm sorry. People say I should be mad at conservatives, but FUCKING. NO. She lost while parading my rights on a platter to the guy who everyone thought would lose on arrogance.

And after the election, her supporters come out and defend that [EXPLICITIVE] and casting the entire country as racist, and it was the news media, and fake news when it's pretty clear what the problem was. Instead of self reflection they continue to point to outside sources. Even if she got the nom, she could have at least visited rural areas that she was suggested to go to. When I read that her campaign manager turned down the advice of Bill fucking Clinton, I  lost my shit. A large part of this election was lost on liberal smug and arrogance, but look at what the conservatives are doing! I'm sorry, but it pisses me off and I do not appreciate my life being used as a poker chip.

You're right she ran at the worst time. But that only serves to make her campaign look all the worse for it. Fucking Tim Kaine as VP. "Basket of deplorables." I just don't know. Reading into the campaign post-election makes me furious. And to make matters worse, instead of conceding that hey maybe we ran a flawed campaign and we should learn from that and we deserved the L, they blame Comey. Donald Trump and his team scare me, but I find the apathy of the Democratic party and its handling of its constituents to be just as disgusting.

1) If Comey doesn't pull that shit, she wins.

2) She lost by less than 100k votes in 3 states that swung the election. Yes, she looks stupid for not campaigning in Wisconsin at all especially with a winnable Senate seat, Michigan barely at all, and in only Philly and Pittsburgh in PA. But that's all Monday morning qb shit. Remember that all the polls HAD HER WINNING. FUCKING EVERYONE WAS WRONG. It was a bizarre, once in a lifetime event.

3) She won the popular vote by almost 3 million votes, the 3rd highest total in history. Democratic Senate and House candidates got more votes than their GOP counterparts. Long term, demographics favor the Democratic party coalition way more than they do the GOP coalition. The bicameral nature of the legislature, low Dem coalition turnout in non-Presidential elections, and vigorous opposition gerrymandering are what's fucking us in the short term. Yes, there are some dumb things Democrats do but "whining and being sensitive" are not among them.

4) Donald Trump is a lying, deal breaking, racist, misogynistic, xenophobic, narcissistic dullard. I understand not liking Hillary, but anyone that ACTIVELY VOTED FOR TRUMP is at the very least making the tacit statement that they are ok with such a person running our country. Calling them out for that is not rude, it's a necessary act.

The Democratic party isn't perfect, but until the GOP stops putting racism, sexism, gay bashing, and transphobia IN THEIR FUCKING PARTY PLATFORM, I feel no need to be nice to them for the fee fees sakes. In fact, anyone that DOES try to "reach out" to them without making abundantly clear that you believe that all human beings are equal and deserve equal opportunity and protection under the law is, in my opinion, the whining pussy.

I feel like Himu has swung way too far in the other direction when it comes to post-campaign reflection. We were pretty aligned at first but she's gone a bit far IMO.

I'm very much on the left. That much has never changed. The only thing that has gone right is my stance on guns. If you think guns should be banned after Donald Trump got elected legally despite everything he said, which shows how fragile democracy is especially in a modern world where people are less capable of sharing ideas due to society being a great bubble, then you're probably a fool considering the origins of this nation. Every other stance is identical from before. That said, I do now have waning ideas on the nature of the state if someone like Trump can get elected, but I do consider it necessary.

I'm still a pro-equal rights, anti-capitalist. What has swung?

And liberals don't unfriend Trump voters because they're conservative. They unfriend Trump voters because they voted for an awful bigot who said many disgusting things on camera and ran the ugliest, most dishonest campaign of all time.

I disagree. I've seen a lot of people on social media and offline outright dismiss people with different views. I recall someone here defriending someone from their fb just because he had a pro-Trump argument and said things like "the Democrats used to be pro-slave! This is the party you support!" and he was pretty harmless even a little cute in his demeanor. Got unfriended because "sorry guys we need a place where everyone agrees with us." I've seen it more times to count. I've done it myself. I used to have a circle offline that was pretty diverse in viewpoint. Now it's full of only people who agree with me. Realizing that I didn't know a single Trump voter after the election caused for great reflection.

In the end though, it goes beyond party lines and in their own way, Republican's do the same thing. This thread is even called "this is your team" as if political parties are sports teams. The entire political structure in how it influences culture is disgusting and it's far too easy to get sucked into it. I'm already doing it now.

Well, Himu...

Mostly because of shit like this:

I agree. It feels both camps are inherently authoritarian.

there was no way to prevent her winning the nom.

I dunno about that. Surely someone (not Sanders) would've taken Sander's policies ran with them and Clinton's "I can take care of you" for gays and other minorities (without Clinton's baggage on that, see: Superpredators) AND not have the baggage of either (Communist/history respectively)?

All this arguing over Clinton obscures the fact that the dems are getting wrecked in elections up and down the ticket and have been for a while. Finding the perfect nominee who would have beat Trump doesn't fix that problem. There needs to be a more fundamental shift in strategy and message but instead we'll get four years of devastating Olbermann takedowns accusing Trump of being gay for Putin.

You can't talk down to people when you're full of shit yourselves. The public figured that out abot the left, as well as much of the media, and that's what they need to address. For all of Hildog's faults, she could have won if the Dems acted as honorable and good as they think they are. Instead, they called a large part of the country deplorable, disgusting people while sucking banker dick, getting caught having the press do their bidding, and twice ruckfucked over while covering for Mister Dick Pix.

It's a thing that ties into AiA's point. Creepy brought up that Hillary won by 3 million votes but still didn't win by the electoral college. He mentions "demographics are on our side" as if all you have to do is wait for a better future instead of fighting for it. It proves AIA right aboit neo liberalism for the weak ideological philosophy it is.

liberals say they have won the culture war but still lose elections left and right. Even amid what they deem to be a fascist republican government they still lose. With that you can come to two conclusions. Either American's are stupid and that will growing demographics you get an edge, or that the party is simply incompetent and not attuned to the wide girth of American issues. You can convince yourself that they're "voting against their interests" but at the end of the day, if what you're selling is supposedly better why aren't they buying it? But instead of trying to fight and look for better ways to express your argument ("maybe we're too abrasive?", "maybe we're too judging?") they point fingers saying that people don't know what's good for them and that demographics will be there in time.

But if you continue to show bad leadership that results in loss after loss, will they?

You can come to two conclusions: neo liberalism is philosophically and inherently weak or the current leadership that represents the philosophy is weak.
