Jimmy Graham to the Packers.

Gonna be a rough few years in Seattle. Will be a true test of the fanbase to see who sticks around.

Hawks already have the QB so maybe they're turnaround can be quick. If Carrill retires it might be a long process though.

It's looking like the Niners are whiffing on free agent WRs. Not many great wideouts in the draft either. They might just punt that issue away until next year.

Niner's get KcKinnon from the Vikes for a pretty high price for a RB. He should thrive under Shanny's scheme. It's gonna be exciting to have a RB who can actually catch passes thrown to him.

Look for a big year from the 3 headed monster of Garcon, Goodwin, and Taylor. They certainly don't have to overpay for a WR.

yea right. dude is a goon and everyone knows it. hard worker though.

We freed up enough cap space today to go after him, but I doubt he wants to return to Detroit lol. I'm surprised he hasn't signed in Seattle yet.

Interesting.

Reuben Foster's legal case sounds bad so far.

And Aldon Smith is still a disaster.

Reuben really pissed me off. Now instead having a bright spot for next year, we will have to draft his replacement instead.

Sounds like they're gonna take Mayfield first. Not sure any of these QBs will be great, but I think Rosen is the best of the bunch. My problem with Rosen and Darnold is they make some straight up bonehead decisions. I watched a lot of USC games and some of the INTs thrown were just...what the fuck. Same with UCLA/Rosen.

Big question...if Barkley and Chubb are still on the board at #4, who do you take if you're Cleveland? Honestly I think I'd go with Chubb. Yes Barkley will probably be great, but the thought of pairing Chubb with Myles Garrett...
:whew

In terms of the Lions...my ranking of need for the 1st round pick:

DE/edge (hopefully Harold Landry)
DT (hopefully Da'Ron Payne)
OL (hopefully Frank Ragnow)

I don't want an RB tonight. Sure, Derrius Guice is amazing (and could be better than Barkley...) and might be available at 20 but nah, I'd pass. This is a deep RB draft, we can find our RB in the 2nd-4th rounds. I'm hoping for Harold Landry tonight.

Not a lot to really care about this draft for Saints but we'll see. I think QB wise I like Rosen first but Mayfield has potential to be pretty great IMO. He'd probably end up having a better career if he was drafted in the 2nd round or something, more chip to fuel. That said, I like his game. Hopefully the browns don't ruin him if they are indeed the ones to pick him up.

Hoping Guice goes to a good fit, he's a good kid/story and is a beast.

I am not sure what to think of Harold Landry. He looks like he's really clever at working the outside and getting the most out of his body, but you'd like your end to put out faster pressure. He does a lot of setting up the lineman for a counter move. I wonder if his pressure will be too slow at the NFL level.

Browns pass on Chubb for a CB  :lol

real talk...they could have taken Barkley first and still gotten Mayfield at 4. Or taken Chubb first, and still got Mayfield at 4.

I'd bet just about anything that Josh Allen will be a bust.

Lions...eh. I guess the front office (and the entire league) side with you on Landry, Etiolet. I thought his combine numbers were good. Thought we'd draft him for sure. Our new DC coached him last year...just seemed like the obvious pick. Instead we go OL.

Ragnow is considered a top 3-5 OL so I'm not mad about talent. He's versatile and can play guard; lot of Lions writers think he'd probably play guard instead of center here. Either way...the Lions' o-line is now set. On paper, it looks great. We also have depth now. Stafford got sacked what, 45 times last year, in large part because our o-line was depleted by injuries all year. Keep Stafford clean and he'll decimate defenses.

The Bills definitely ended up with the worst QB in the first round.

Also ugh at drafting a running back.

There's a YT guy who loves Landry and does a good sell job on him, but I kept thinking that a NFL pass rusher can't be meticulous. They have to get pressure quick or that throw is out.

If that's the case, maybe he drops to 3rd round.

Niners trade Trent Brown and pick 143 for pick 95. Apparently Brown was out of shape and his injury recovery has not gone well so they drafted McGlinchey.

Lions offensive strategy

And I like it. Great run blocking center/guard in the 1st round, slashing RB in the 2nd round, T/G depth in the 5th round, and the best fullback in the draft in the 7th round. In just a couple years, Bob Quinn has transformed this o-line into something potentially special. Last year the line was terrible due to injuries. Now we have proper depth and a competent o-line coach.

I'm guessing 4 RBs make the roster - Blount, Johnson (rookie), Abdullah, and Riddick. Fullback (rookie) makes it as well. Nice depth and versatility. I know a lot of people have been disappointed in Abdullah but I still think he can be good. We've had terrible o-line coaching and injuries, I'm not going to knock him for not having holes to run through. Given the line and the RBs I definitely expect a good run game this year. Let's go.

Defense...I like Da'Shawn Hand being picked in the 4th round. Big DE, can play DT as well. Still scared about our depth at end though. Outside of Ziggy and Hand....dunno man. Patricia likes 3-4 and 3-5-3 looks, so all the LBs we signed in free agency will play into the pass rush. We'll see how it goes.

Overall I like what we did this weekend. Fixed a couple major needs (interior OL and RB), drafted a starter DE, got some o-line depth, secondary depth, fullback for the run game...I like it. I feel like the offense is set now. Defense will continue to be built upon.

Niners pick up Tarvarus McFadden after he went undrafted. He was great in his first college season a year ago and then fell off last year.

So there's talk about eliminating the kickoffs?

How many more years until the NFL is a glorified flag football league? How can some of you honestly still watch this?

Kickoffs are mostly dead anyway, wouldn't be that much of a change.

What they should do is let the kicking team line up closer to the receiving team to decrease the speed in which they come down the field and let the kicker kick from like the 25 yard line.

Or, just do a regular punt procedure from the opposite 40 yard line with two receivers at the end of the field.

I agree with you but still how much farther are they going to go before the sport isn't even Football anymore? The product on the field is so bad i'm genuinely shocked more people haven't noticed.

I don't agree with this.  We just had one of the most exciting and unpredictable NFL playoffs in recent memory, and offenses are performing like they're college teams.  High scoring, competitive games like what we saw in the Super Bowl is what gets people into the game.  Good coaching, wild-card playcalls, great performances from the offenses and dynamic gamechanging plays from the defenses, as well as likeable personalities.

The game may not be "gritty" like it once was, but its the flashiest its ever been.  I think that's a good, marketable product.

lol dude it's a pitch and catch game. who the fuck ever watched NFL football for that? And if you wanted a college game why not watch college football?

i give this league maybe another 5 years of relevancy before people stop watching. Rugby is a better game at this point.
