Maria made landfall on the SE side of Dominica and suddenly shifted NNW, resulting in the eye swiping over the majority of the island. There probably won't be much left...
Guadeloupe got battered by the NE quadrant, still a good distance from the eye. There's some footage of it online and it's not pretty, so I can only imagine how it went in Dominica (with winds at 180mph...).
It dropped to a strong Cat 4 but that was expected considering that it went over mountains peaking at 1500m. As of now it's tracking to restrengthen to a Cat5, hit the Virgin Islands and go right over San Juan PR.
