Oh for sure. We basically get in the realm of denying people & cultures their agency, poor souls completely oblivious that their needs and desires are purely European constructs (with often the somewhat naive Rousseauist implication that everything was milk and honey before Whitey showed up), and that's not a line of argument I like or that holds very well.
There's no denying however that Western culture is immensely pervasive, both for having been spread by force or other forms of domination. So it's difficult to discard outright. Especially in the context of western companies operating on a continent still currently being exploited at huge profit though in a less direct way.
