The thing is, between progressive persons, we can completely strive on the same end goal and destination, but still disagree on the way to get there. And the reason I say that is, you know, yeah I grew up in the 90s. And I kind of miss when the social fights were about being united together instead of these endless divisions between gender, races, sex, and everything. I loved when we were just… when it was about unification and fighting back together.

In a way I've seen the election of Trump and Brexit and everything and… did this new strategy work, you know? Did this way of fighting for equality and everything work?

It's not that I'm against these goals. But we have the right to be critical of the way to get there. In the same way, democracy we are all for it. But we can be critical of its implementation.

That article isn't actually as stupid as it could be, the idea of replacing a novel however classic set in a foregone time period (nearly 30 years before it was even written too) and with dated character types and life components with something very similar that's more current in a lot of ways beyond gender/race roles such as even language is not a terrible idea for many English courses rather than sticking to things for decades because it's the way we do things and curriculum, curriculum never changes.

It might be the kind of movement we need to finally stop the abomination that is The Catcher in the Rye from continuing to raise its bodycount both literally and figuratively, that this documentary illustrated:

You are mistaken to think it's just GAF that keeps bringing up Gamergate. Several news articles every week name drop it as a boogeyman in relation to about anything that happens.

It falls under the principle of white male = evil, which for some reason starts with Gamergate for these people. GAF isn't unique in its behavior. It's only copying the insular media it consumes.

Sudden drop? The Prime Trilogy had ended, Retro wanted to do something else, their Switch game is rumored to not even be Donkey Kong Country related but maybe something completely new. (Especially since that reboot didn't take as expected.)

It's not like Metroid is a major Nintendo franchise. The entire series hasn't cracked 20 million sold. (edit: this is counting those "games" only Andy considers canon) The last three console Zelda games alone have almost outsold the entire Metroid franchise. Only the NES game seriously cracked 2 million copies. The first Splatoon has more than doubled every Metroid game but the first and it was released on the Wii U ffs, the Switch sequel might destroy that number in a year.
