Can some one point me to the post that shows the Alt-Right/GG etc.. have taken over GAF?
All I'm seeing is man-babies asking for bans, talking about the new hug box and making lewd post..
Aside from that people with dissenting opinions actually speaking up for once (with out being vulgar, bigoted, rude etc..)
Are they just tossing around FUD to drive GAF into rhe ground and sell this false utopia?
What they never realized is most of what they thought were GG or Alt-Right people were just kids getting their lulz on. It's like they haven't been around the internet from it started... saying horrible shit without consequence is pretty much what most kids find funny. It's like when we used to crank call people back before caller ID. We said horrible shit because that shit was funny.
Then I grew up. Yet you know, young people still exist. So I could either be old man yelling at clouds or just be like, fuck it. I did the same shit 20 years ago.
People just popped a new term on trolls.
We're now contending with Nazis whom the President of the US calls "very fine people." Advocates of racial genocide like Richard Spencer are welcomed to speak on University Campuses, protected under the cover of "emergency" by state police. Dismissing the outrage expressed towards the GG types as the histrionics of overreacting social studies warriors is perilously naive. Nice to be white, I guess.
I get man, I do. I have mad empathy for POC right now... shit looked like it was getting better in the 90's to 00's. We got a black president and then ole' whitey got scared which led to the current down fuckstorm we got.
Still, kids are fucking stupid. They get off on be outrageous.. and when they can do that shit without consequence they have at it. I mean it's disgusting behavior.. but the real pieces of shit are the grown ass adults who parrot that GG/Alt-Right crap that's started off as a joke.
I mean take Jim Goad for instance. Dude's an alt-right hero.. but he started here in Portland writing a fucking shock 'zine and palling it up with Chuck Palahniuk . Dude is a admitted wife-beater, cheater, and piece of shit. He got his manifesto thoughts from prison for fuck's sake. It's strange when I think about it.. that a lot of the white nationalist alt-right shit started 20 years ago as anarchistic leaning dipshits in Portland.
He should denounce this shit, but he's a fucking narcissist who loves watching the world burn. So they just let people roll with it.
I don't know how to fix this shit, it's not just the President. It's a good 1/3rd of the country is fucking insane.
It was never better, but there was enough of a buffer between what was true and what we convinced ourselves of the reality we interpreted. With social media democratization of information, and obliteration of the borders that once limited unfettered communication, the spread of this rot has only been accelerated. And I while you may be right, that it's only 1/3 of the country that truly buys into this insanity, the other 2/3 - the centrists, moderates, and liberals - are complicit in their apathy.
I think it was getting better. Not great, but better. I think it breaks down probably to 1/3rd is just people who don't trust the government and want to blame someone else for their problems.. there's no better bogeyman than a minority to get people to rally around. That's not just a US thing either. Those people are pointless to even talk to.
1/3rd of the people care, and try to be better people and do the right things.
1/3rd are apathetic or think they can't do anything.
I think for awhile you got people to care somewhat about racial and class equality. The economy crashing though made a huge chunk to just give a shit about themselves again.
What's fucked up is that the economy is allegedly so great, but there's still so much fear in the general populace. That's fear from all sides. Having the great divider as President is just worsen it all. He plays into the bogeyman idea... everyone or thing he can make a bogeyman he does.. Mexicans, Blacks, Muslims, Immigrants, the poor, the unhealthy... he throws whatever out there as long as he can get some response.
..and that other dude... I think it's quite clear who I mean by whitey. Doesn't mean I don't care about your whoas.. we'll got them. I know white privilege doesn't always feel like all that much of a privilege when you struggle to make ends meet.. but have some empathy for those that not only don't have that privilege but start on level -100 when us whites start on level 1.
