Yeah I also think it went too far. Realistic child murder and incredibly graphic torture seems a bit much and doesn't "push the medium forward" in any way. It was just gross and super off-putting and actually made me less interested in both of the titles.

You know, I wanted to say that when the Morrigan thread shit came up: I love fan service. I'm all for cute chicks in bikini armor and combat stilettos in my games, and I think the people bitching about this are by and large either prudes or sexists (yes, I actually think the people complaining are usually more sexist than the people creating that stuff), and I'd love to see way more of it, but it has to fit. Same thing with violence and gore. And to me, MGS5 and TLOU are bad examples. I expect T&A from Kojima, but MGS5 didn't handle it well, and I expect gratuitous gore in Zombie games, but TLOU didn't handle that well, either.

Tyler clearly stopped thinking a long time ago. All of this could have been easily avoided. Then again, it could have been avoided by somebody who cares and is capable rational thought, but GAF wouldn't have been like that even prior to the allegations if somebody who cared and was capable of rational thought was in charge in the first place.
