When I was much younger, I managed a comic shop for a few years (the owner liked to travel and do these mall conventions, perhaps some of you remember what malls were). A good friend managed the other competing store in town. We had these habituals who would sign up for a subscription box (where we'd pull your monthly comics and hold them), sign up for everything, and then just disappear after several months of not picking up their stuff. They didn't really disappear, though, they just went across town and signed up for a subscription box at the other store, where they did the same thing until coming back and hoping we wouldn't recognize them. They did this over and over again, until both our stores eventually wised up and started requiring a $ deposit to start up a box. Minus leaving store owners with piles of unsold books, I think this GAF/Resetera will be a similar situation. Thus the following still applies, with updates in bold:

-make a dramatic self-banning thread on gaf
-join resetera
-get banned from resetera
-get cold sweats and night terrors from lack of attention being paid to you
-slink back to gaf in a couple of months using an alt
-alt gets banned
-slink back to resetera in a couple of months using an alt
-repeat ad infinitum

That's probably the last bit of insight I have about any of this, so unless something else crazy and entertaining happens I'm just going to let it fade from my mind. I've spent an embarrassing and shameful amount of time reading all this drama already, time to just fuck off and play video games.

In reality, game developers are continually trying to appease an audience that doesn't really exist. Naughty Dog's fanbase is overwhelmingly male. I imagine the majority couldn't give a rats ass about these supossedly progressive steps Naughty Dog has made with TLoU 2. I think what most gamers care about is whether or not it is a good game. That is all.

They are trying to appease a minority of progressive activists and think they will be satisfied by it.

Well true, I guess. I'm not sure it would affect sales, but it would certainly hurt their image.

Don't know the real impact also, but PR/marketing doesn't want to gamble with that I guess. It's a bit the same with the whole resolution and fps counting that went on for a while. If your game didn't had a real 1080p, you were the devil and suddenly all gaming sites made news from that. Even while 99% of people playing won't see the difference. You want to prevent that kind of negative attention.
