Talks about power. But only shows non-gameplay footage of games that I can already play on existing hardware.

I'm not impressed, to be honest. Comparing it to the Surface Book ad announcement video, which was awesome, this looks more like a project made by a student at the local community college.

it's a commercial and you guys want walkthroughs? These commercials aren't for people that frequent gaming boards.

I thought this place was supposed to be better than this?

Too bad they screwed up the launch of Xbox One so bad.  I'd be all over this if they had a way to get the publishers to grant you an Xbox license for all PS4 third party games you own.  Now I'm just too deep $ wise to switch mid generation.

First the "I witnessed the most powerful console ever" shirts being sold at E3 and now this "feel true power," who comes up with this shit?

People that don't frequent boards don't care about "the most powerful console ever," either, especially not at double the price of the alternative.

The bore is really for  non-serious game discussion. Wax details all you want, but don't be too serious about it.

But also I'm not sure the Xbox One X is really going to appeal to the person who doesn't frequent gaming boards. That same person probably has to ask the Target employee what 4k is and is probably more then happy with the far cheaper Xbox One S or PS4. How many Vizo tvs without HDR are sold? Probably more then a good Sony set. To me, it remains to be seen if the system sells beyond the choir.

Still not sure why Microsoft launches this thing without having new games ready.

Sure Blind Agency makes some kick-ass trailers and visuals but consoles used to have this thing called first party games.
On Earth-2 this ships with Lost Oddessey 2, Banjo Fourierie, Perfect Dark 2 and Crackdown Apocalypse.

Instead of Minecraft update 2493, Forza we-lost-count and Assassins Creed Egypt.

I was down to buy this a year ago, but I haven't bought an XBone game in a year and $500 is too much for what it would do for me. I kinda don't see myself buying an XBone game for the next year either.

Kinda thinking about dumping my PS4 and getting an XB1X. We have two PS4's in the house because my GF has one so I don't see a reason in still having one as well. I think I may wait until the end of the month to see how things shake out.

I've been surprised at the amount of people who went PS4 this gen who've all picked up Xbox 1X today.

My friendlists is full of people I haven't seen on Live for years.

MS seems to have made a very well thought out machine that shows clear differences between it's base version and the 'premium' XB1X.

I mean it even makes your BC games look great.

My brother bought the XboneX and is giving my mom his old XboneS so she can use it for Netflix. I'm at my mom's house a few times a week so now I'll get to check the system out. Any worthwhile exclusives that would be in my bag (I know this isn't last gen when they actually had a few Japanese exclusives)? I'm interested in Forza Horizon 3 due to it being set in the Australian Outback, and of course Ori... but I don't Halo, Gears, and most of the other big Xbox franchises. And I have Cuphead on PC already.

PS Pro has always been complete and utter shit from a technical perspective. The fact this system can actually do native 4K really needs to be hammered home in their marketing.

With that being said I’ve got a feeling this is going to not do well sales wise considering widespread availability of preorders and Microsoft hasn’t yet said a peep about first day sales when they’ve been historically pretty proactive about touting their sales numbers.

To the surprise of nobody, really. It's an upgrade of an already unpopular console that expects you to pay an extra $300 or so for the horsepower.

Unless Microsoft does ads that show Halo/Gears/et. al. in 4K with Porn-HOLY-SHIT-YOU-CAN-SEE-THE-POURS-ON-THAT-GUYS-DICK! level of difference between the PS4Pro and it, I can't really see people biting on it.

Easy to say now but not in the year lead-up the Xbox division has had up until the launch of this thing. Lot of people there were hoping this would turn the tide. Especially after the dismal sales of the PS Pro.

I wish they had their shit together for respectable outlets like Digital Foundry to have tons of analysis out. As of now their coverage has been pretty weak. I'm not 100% sure whose fault it is, but it seems like for a lot of games the Xbox X patch only came out a few days ago or on launch.

Mmmm, no. It was easy to say then as well. The whole "people will jump on a chance to upgrade their consoles a la PC!" was tried by Valve and nobody bit (because Valve totally fucked it up, IMO). Which was a sure sign that nobody was gonna jump on upgrading their PS4->Pro or X-box->4K unless their launch/cheaper console broke.

It doesn't matter about the exclusives. Nobody besides Videowhores gives a shit about 4K. See the Steam User chart of the resolutions, a lot of the majority of the Steam userbase is using 1080i because it's the "cheapest" HD monitors around now a days and most couldn't care. Could their hardware do 4K? Maybe/maybe not, depending on the year their built/specs, but a lot of folks simply don't care about 4K.

Oh don't worry Phil "yeah but ours is TRUE 4k" Spencer is on the case.
Except that a ton of games will be dynamic res at best, or use something similar to checkerboard rendering :lol.

I'm not expecting better numbers than the Pro. Probably even lower, I'd guess, with the higher price tag and the poisoned Xbox One name.

I honestly don't care if it sells like shit.  I've got my 4k blu ray player, I'll get updates for current gen games and even my back catalog of xbox games got a boost (which I actually still play) so I'm good.  Besides, after spending $200 on the HD DVD add on 10+ years ago nothing will feel quite like the waste of money that was.

Got mine yesterday and I'm very impressed. Beautiful machine. Siting next to my Pro it looks so small but man does it feel very solid.

Night and day difference on the games. Especially if you've been playing them on the OG XB1. Having no jaggies or soft vaseline screen at all is weird at first.

Downloading the Battlefront 2 demo off EA Access and will give that a run through later. Halo 5 looks astonishing considering what that looked like on the old Xbox 1. Gears 4 just looks obscene Forza 7 I played on the Xbox 1 then when it arrived on the 1X and again massive difference.

In terms of multiplats. I'm thinking of what games that will have time to go a bit more crazy like RDR2 and Far Cry 5 will look like. The biggest difference on this machine is stuff like grass and foliage looks really good. Get ready for grass gate 2.

I'm only playing on a 1080p TV atm and I'm pretty impressed. When my 4K TV turns up in a few weeks I'm expecting to faint.

Is it worth the upgrade? For me I played all my multiplats and MP stuff on my Xbox 1 over my PS4 Pro so it was. My Pro is for Sony exclusives that take my fancy.

I think anyone expecting this to turn the tide is a bit deluded. Im sure not even MS thinks that but it does a few things. It's going to make Sony have to scramble on a few things, and gives MS the best Multiplat crown for I'm going to say the next 2 years. And it 'rehabilitate's the Xbox Brand in the eyes of gamers, the huge amount of people I've seen coming back 'onboard' has been interesting.

The lack of exclusives situation is overblown the games are there and now they don't need to compromise on them graphically, so next year is going to be interesting.

I don't see how it's overblown when MS has literally 2 exclusive retail this releases. 4 if you count digital indies.

I've bought probably half a dozen retail  Sony exclusives this year and I have skipped a bunch. Probably close to the same number digital.

It's overblown in the sense of list wars. As these games ebb and flow in frequency and number. Last year the Xbox had arguably better retail exclusives than the PS4, what good did that do it?

A balanced machine is obviously preferred and yes MS has been missing BIG multiple AAA exclusives I'm guessing from their POV why throw more of their games out looking dreadful when they have a newer better machine coming.

I guess we'll see how they improve themselves next year.

Phil Spencer has been going in HAM on a continual improvement project, get the infrastructure right first, and then finish it off with the one thing everyones been asking for.

One day I may eat these words but until then its true.
