I was just listening to her on a podcast (it’s OK, I’m safe), and she sounded like a genuinely nice girl that had dragged herself through some ugly shit. To have such a young life snuffed by a combination of depression and Twitter is so futile and pointless.

I hope it helps people continue to realise just how dangerous and damaging the internet is to interpersonal relationships. We need to figure this shit out quickly because it’s already way out of hand.

Reddit's a better idea than a big catch-all forum like resetera once you get to more than a handful of people. Nobody in individual communities agree on everything. The more you try to force it the more weirdly shapen and bizarre it gets, like GAF's unique cultural authoritarianism. Take etiolate. I like the guy's basketball opinions and in general I think he's a smart, decent, interesting person. But we couldn't be farther apart from each other politically. We can coexist on the Bore, where people get to know each other fairly well and can self police, and we can coexist on a basketball subreddit or something where thousands and thousands of people just talk about basketball. But he'd be either have to completely hide his beliefs to not be banned on Resetera. Evilore actually had the right idea at first when he thought about getting rid of off-topic. Should have just been a pure video game forum again.

I use chronological view.

The thing being with reddit is it can be heavily socially engineered. Most of /all is a product of bot networks and manipulations. Getting the earliest comment in a new topic will garner a lot of upvotes by default. You can have one account create a topic, then another account to make the first reply (leading conversation a certain way), grab upvotes by default and use bot votes for whatever other purpose you need.

But that's why you don't read /all. You use reddit for the variety of subreddits that are largely self controlled and produce worthwhile information or discussion.

I haven't read the thread at all so I have no idea how a topic with a pretty obvious response got out of hand. She said something shitty but it's sad she died. If it was just some people trying to defend her choice that made the thread get locked then that hardly seems unmanageable.

I just want to point out that's not entirely accurate. I only had 2 accounts because it took 3 weeks for the confirmation email to show up in my ISP address I used to sign up, and in the mean time I tried a gmail account that was confirmed immediately. I was posting on both, but the alt only for a few threads a few times, and it was NOT in any kind of bad standing until last night when I made Morrigan mad enough to start sending me PMs. Then both accounts were banned.

Now I call noted hate site and doxxxing enterprise, The Bore, my shitposting home for good. The second account I used to post in threads where my posts wouldn't immediately be attacked and reported by the same 3-4 people who obsess over me on private discords and have been trying to get me banned since before RE was even officially up. And it worked, because they had civil conversations with me when they didn't know it was me
