Black Panther was the worst part of Civil War. Basically the Token Black (did he get anything from that film beyond a mere introduction and like 20 minutes screen time?), they could've introduced his nation way better than that UN meeting and like 2-minute CGI post-credit scene. Why wouldn't Cap hide there instead of in some like German city from Shield? Why wouldn't they battle there if Black Panther was going to be introduced there.

Just why? Now we're getting his "introduction film" but at this point it's like "oh, yeah, ok. Well when's Avengers 4 when he has a bigger role there, maybe?"

Also that CGI fight-scene looks hilariously bad. The woman cut-in between it is in clear-sky and they're fighting in a night-scene. Just... why? Why would you cut the trailer like that? Why would you do a CGI of Black Panther grabbing a pole (tee-hee) and swinging around it? Just... why?

There's no such thing as "underage" when it comes to art. These characters are pixels on a screen, not people. Even "of-age" characters are, in actuality, less than one year old when most of us see them; and on the flipside, characters who've been around for a long time, like Lisa Simpson, are in their 20s.

The age the character is given in continuity is just a number. It's not representative of anything real.

If these were real people, yes, I'd agree it's something that cannot stand. But they're not. And that makes all the difference in the world.

This is not about "anime boobs," it's about art. Whether it be fine art, pornographic art, art created from the heart, cash-grab art, racist art, sexist art, etc... it's still art, and it still deserves to be protected and presented as-is. I make absolutely no distinction between the Mona Lisa and Moero Chronicle -- one is certainly more important, but in the end, they are both works of art, and they should both be granted equal respect and equal protection as far as I'm concerned. I would no sooner censor the swimsuits in Xenoblade X than I would draw a mustache on the Mona Lisa, or put pants on Michaelangelo's David. They may be on different levels, but they're all ultimately human creative endeavors, and should not ever be altered by anyone but their own creators.

...And even then, I'd be hesitant to make any alterations if I felt the creators were being pressured into changing their works by outside moral authorities.

This is very much a zero-tolerance policy for me. If the creator put something into his/her work that's tasteless and unrefined, or even downright pornographic... well, that was his/her decision, and that is now an integral part of the final product. If the public cannot accept the final product with that aspect fully intact, then I do not believe the public deserves that final product at all.

The movie is probably going to do well and ERA is unlikely to be surprised... ya'll are fucking strange.

The only thing I think Black Panther could do "poorly" is in comparison to the top-line and established Marvel films. i.e. more like Ant-Man or Doctor Strange (both of which still had box offices above half a billion dollars) if only because like those two, especially the latter, he's a more relatively unknown character to the mass market despite his in-universe importance, and unlike those two doesn't have a crossover name actor in the lead role, or across the side roles.

But Marvel and Disney's whole framework for this film universe, and everything else that ties into it, is at the point where and really they reached this point years ago, where they can drop $200 million on Guardians of the Galaxy and hope it into becoming a blockbuster franchise and tent-pole. Everything about Thor's films to date would not have said Thor: Ragnarok should have been made the way it was and especially not marketed the way it was and they nearly got a billion from it. Typical studio thinking would demand another Hulk film. (Personally, I would like him left in space after Infinity War deliberately by Tony and an off-screen Illuminati to setup a completely nuts World War Hulk film.) But because they can shift the costs around, they can basically eat the cost of a Doctor Strange domestically in order to bring the character in for Infinity War and beyond. Especially since every film has done better than the one before it except Iron Man 2 (because the cost inflated so much, but they got it back on 3) and Age of Ultron (same situation, plus it probably under performed in the U.S.); plus they figured out recently and used it in three of the last five films that they can essentially make team-up movies under the banners of something else, save the true costs behind Avengers ensembles, and only do slightly worse than if they tagged them as Avengers films.

I see Captain Marvel having a similar issue as Black Panther will face, and not because it'll be female dominated like Black Panther is black dominated. But it's the same one Doctor Strange would have faced without Cumberbatch in the lead role.

The fact that they have Spider-Man on board and the other side of Infinity War now means the X-Men (AND FANTASTIC FOUR! YEAH! DOCTOR DOOM AS A RUSSIAN HACKER!) are coming rather than a huge blank that they were never eager as setting out like they had the path to Infinity War they can continue to do this for a long time.

Warner's problem is that they're dropping gobs of cash up front (only Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman were made on Marvel style budgets...Man of Steel, BvS and Justice League all cost more than any Marvel film to date except Age of Ultron (and Civil War was more than MoS), which were follow ups to a brand that already made $1.5 billion with its first release), while seemingly shoving all their star characters to the side except lucking into Wonder Woman, to do Aquaman, Shazam, Suicide Squad (and spin-offs) and Cyborg. Something that's pretty nuts when Justice League was such a financial disaster rather than free money. (MoS and BvS were saved barely by overseas, and BvS barely out performing Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman despite having the combined budget is nonsense.) Rather than cutting down the budget and shoving out more and patched up Superman and Batman, they seem intent on cutting down the budgets and hoping to get lucky like with Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman. (Both of which actually, were arguably larger financial successes than any MCU film except the first Avengers.) Assuming they don't spend $250 million on Wonder Woman 2. The fifteen Harley Quinn movies are going to start to add up too.

The funny thing is that BvS and JL don't look like they cost $300 million each especially compared to their contemporaries. The two Guardians films were only $200 million each. Hell, the TFA and TLJ were only $500 million combined.

Though to be fair, none of those films had to erase a mustache though.

Even weirder is that, despite WrassleERA being the biggest community on the board, it's really only about 10 regulars talking about the same shit every day, and they're all in a private Discord where they talk about the same shit all day. The ones that complain the most about WWE watch 9 hours a week and then listen to 20 hours of podcasts of people bitching about WWE every week as well. Sometimes they BRAG about hatewatching just so they can listen to a hate podcast. 

This seems to be the online wrestling community in general. There’s very little positive sentiment about the product they consume. It’s like watching a bunch of miserable junkies gripe about their condition as they push in their next hit.

It looks good and has crazy pre-sales so seems like it will be a blockbuster since Marvel hasn't made a shitty movie in a long time.  That's the extent of my analysis.

Well, that was what I meant by relatively, TLJ is only at $1.3 billion and has run out of momentum instead of crushing $2 billion. And you'd think Disney is teetering on the edge of financial disaster.

BP doing $600 million is great and there's plenty of reason to consider that a big success like you would for Doctor Strange or the insane fact that Marvel squeezed half a billion out of Ant-Man, but there's people who are going to compare it to Avengers (or Avengers lite)/Guardians/Spider-Man bringing in $800-$1.5 billion for various reasons. Certain people, including thread favorites, have some real agendas regarding this film, no matter how it does, that will... color ...the analysis reflected back here in the dumpster thread bitching about bitching. We can't rule out people on ERA upset that if it's nothing more than conventional but good Marvel action rather than a two hour FRELIMO tract or something.

Which is likely the result of the suits at Disney recutting the film's intellectual parts out to try and sell to Trump voters rather than realizing they should simply tell them it's not made for them and to fuck off before unfriending them on Facebook and blocking them on Twitter.
