I've been in some hardcore denial over this (even after we found out about the development trouble), but you're right. The awkward ending really highlighted what a mess the whole thing was.

I can drink some Vodka straight-up. But Rum I have to have it put in a Soda. Whiskey is kinda sour for me. Gin is fucking awful, IMO. Even in a Soda it overpowers the mix and is just

Unless the Gin that Assimilate and Broseidon are talking about is way more mild than the "Bond level"/name-brand Gin (Gordon's which apparently changed the formula from Fleming's era) I've had, Gin is way too strong and has this like "cough-syrup"-y texture of a taste on it which is just "ugh."

I've tried non-Gordon's in a bar and it still bad.

It has to be ICE cold (the gin doesn't actually but i like the tonic at least to be really cold). Add some tonic if you can't handle it straight up which it looks like you couldn't. So refreshing, smooth, and it will knock you off your ass.

God.... I said I was cutting down on drinking liquor this month but now i need one.  It's not cheap either. It's more expensive than most vodkas and other gins.

- Got some Mexicanos to come up with a Mexican old fashioned, mezcal, orange, and some kind of butter syrup to round out the taste

I drink brandy neat occasionally but I usually prefer calvados or Armagnac (at least vsop, it def needs to age) for that purpose.

I actually haven't had brandy. Or an Old Fashioned. I've been meaning to, but never gotten around to it.

The best drink I've had (which yes, is a flavored vodka-tier for Mac's judgement) is like half and half vanilla and orange vodka with a small splash of orange juice (IIRC) when I was in NY this summer. It was so smooth and the two flavors combined impeccably.

Way better than a Cuba Libre. I like mixing those flavored Vokda's with some other liquor to try to "mellow" the other liquor out a bit.

Consider calvados (distilled cider via France)... boulard vsop is quite good, readily available at most decent spots, and about $40 or so for 750ml.

You won't hallucinate. You won't get any 'trippy' side-effects at all. All you are drinking is a ridiculously high proof liquor. That's it. Go guzzle antifreeze if you want. Or straight up gasoline.

Tried to stalk his last few GAF posts, but I don't see it. Maybe it was deleted? At a least I found this gem

But on a lighter note, I'm afraid of losing my GAF account. This website has replaced all social media for me and I am virtually always on the board. GAF has gotten me through some extremely difficult times where I wouldn't have had anything else to do or anywhere else to go. I've become a different person with much more carefully thought out beliefs and ideas because of the interactions I've had here. With all its problems and all its absurdity, I am a true patriot of this place and never want to be turned away from it. I'd be a man without a country.

The other side of that is that I don't want this place to ever fall apart. GAF has made it this far with careful moderation and a strong mission statement, but there have been people I liked who were driven out for various reasons. GAF can definitely get better at certain things and the community can improve in certain ways - it's not a perfect place. But there's nothing else like this forum that I've found and I don't want it to lose its identity. As websites like Twitter fall to the bots and trolls and reddit overlaps further and further with white supremacy, NeoGAF remains a bastion of decency. I would take my worst days on GAF over my best days on any other site. I think a forum like this is extremely valuable in the world we currently live in.

I'm determined to stay here and watch the forum grow. Missing out on that would be very upsetting. Everyone needs a hangout. With my schedule, and my life, this place is mine.
