That was just a joke but in seriousness, telling people they're being crazy or hostile or paranoid or too sensitive is NORMAL SOCIALIZATION and letting yourself be held hostage to the most extreme person in the room claiming victimhood is enabling and normalizing pathological behavior. Which is bad. Don't do that. Racism isn't a binary, all-or-nothing condition. A person can irrationally hate [insert group] but make exceptions for select individuals, because they believe them to be the 'exceptions that prove the rule'. There's nothing special to racism that demands of racists to never compromise on their beliefs. Quite the opposite in fact, as with anything that doesn't exist independent of human minds.
