These competing gender and cartel torture quote ziggurats :lawd

It's magical. I almost joined the TVC talk, but I can't find the research on repeated extreme stimuli's impact on the mind.

I’d actually be interested in that if you get bored enough to find a link.

Couldn't find anything on extreme violence images. Only some work on habitual and escalating pornography consumption.

Quote
In his highly regarded book on neuroplasticity, The Brain That Changes Itself [259] Norman Doidge summarized the research on addiction and the reward system, and stated that the continued release of dopamine into the reward system when an individual compulsively and chronically watches Internet pornography stimulates neuroplastic changes that reinforce the experience. Doidge went on to explain how these neuroplastic changes build brain maps for sexual excitement. He introduced an additional component of tolerance, in that previously established brain maps for “natural” sexuality cannot compare to the newly developed and continuously reinforced maps generated by continued compulsive watching of Internet pornography, and thus the addicted individual progresses to more explicit and graphic Internet pornography in order to maintain the higher level of excitement.

Quote
Incidentally, these researchers also reported that 60% of subjects (average age: 25 years) had difficulty achieving erections/arousal with real partners, yet could achieve erections with internet pornography. Note that this finding is in line with the actual results of a recent study purporting to find otherwise [264].

Kühn and Gallinat [263] conducted an MRI study with sixty-four healthy (non-CSB) male subjects and correlated hours of online viewing of explicit material per week and years of use with dorsal striatal structure and connectivity. Three main results were reported. First, longer duration and more hours per week of use correlated with lower grey matter volume in the right caudate. While the caudate serves multiple complex functions, volume changes in the striatum are associated with several addictions, while the direction of change is not consistent. Second, more years and more hours per week of use correlated with lower left putaminal activity in response to brief, still sexual images. fMRI studies confirmed that the putamen is activated during sexual arousal [265,266]. The authors suggested this lower volume may reflect tolerance brought about by desensitization: “This is in line with the hypothesis that intense exposure to pornographic stimuli results in a downregulation of the natural neural response to sexual stimuli” [236] (p. E6). Given the stronger response to 9-second explicit video clips in Voon et al. [262], it may be that brief (530 milliseconds) exposures to still images do not act as cues for today’s internet porn video viewers, and are instead a good way to measure decreasing sexual response. Alternatively, the non-addicts here examined may be responding differently than addicts would have. Finally, subjects who consumed more pornographic material were found to have less connectivity between the right caudate and left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC). While the DLPFC is concerned with executive functions, it is also associated with cue reactivity to drugs and internet gaming. Disruptions in this circuit are implicated in drug and behavioral addictions. Specifically, poor functional connectivity between the DLPFC and caudate (as found in the current study) is implicated in heroin addiction

The people "boycotting" Kingdom Come arn't really missing out on much because they probably wouldn't have bought it anyway, a realistic RPG is a fairly niche market. But imagine how much shit The Last Night will bring up. Plus there's going to be people pretending to boycott it, but playing it secretly... and people saying they got it for free so they're not really supporting Tim Soret...

The best part though is the people who really really want to play it, but actually follow through with not playing it. The punishment fits the crime exquisitely.

Is it transphobic to ask someone if they have a penis

No, but it is irrelevant.  A persons genitals have no baring on their gender, and It’s a best practice to get away from the topic of genetalia when speaking to non-gender conforming individuals.

No, but it is irrelevant.  A persons genitals have no baring on their gender, and It’s a best practice to get away from the topic of genetalia when speaking to non-gender conforming individuals.
What does it mean to have a gender? How do you know you are one gender or another?

Thats a really tough, complex question and everyone has a different view on it. Personally, I don’t think gender is 100% a social construct. Maybe a big part of it is, but there is more to it than that. It’s incredibly difficult, really almost impossible to articulate it to someone that isn’t also gender non-conforming. You just...know.

Also it’s huge. I’m black remember?

Not really. Sex and Gender are bimodal distributions. Meaning that the vast majority of people are born a sex and grow up to its affiliated gender. While there are elements such as hormones and other traits, the groupings appear in two bell curves with some overlap. The overlap is small, but there are intersex people and asexual gender identities. Overall, most fall into line with a sex/gender alignment.

Even transgendered people show up in a largely bimodal distribution where sex/gender distribution is largely male/woman and female/man.

So its not absolute, but to say biological sex has no impact on gender is false. You can't just erase the impact hormones have on a person, otherwise there would be no hormone therapy for transitioning.

What are some of the ways you know that you're a woman?

The way I’m able to empathize with a female perspective.  The way I speak.  The way I write.  The way I dress.  The way my female friends respond to me and the way people online respond to me.  But above all that you just know.  I definitely didn’t just wake up one day and go yup I’m definitely a woman.  It took a lot of thinking and a lot of learning a lot of reading and a lot of talking to others.

Maybe a big part of it is, but there is more to it than that. It’s incredibly difficult, really almost impossible to articulate it to someone that isn’t also gender non-conforming. You just...know.

Also it’s huge. I’m black remember?
What are some of the ways you know that you're a woman?

The way I’m able to empathize with a female perspective.  The way I speak.  The way I write.  The way I dress.  The way my female friends respond to me and the way people online respond to me.  But above all that you just know.  I definitely didn’t just wake up one day and go yup I’m definitely a woman.  It took a lot of thinking and a lot of learning a lot of reading and a lot of talking to others.

This used to mean you were just a Theater Major.

Gender non-conforming have existed in many cultures for thousands of years.

Yeah dude, Prince (and Michael Jackson) really pushed the boundaries on what it meant to be a man during that period.

Speaking of which, I stumbled upon MJ’s post-mortem photos again earlier today while doing some morbid redditing.

The difference is now Millennials take it to another level, and mainly for the soul purpose of feeling 'special' because for most of them they are anything but special and rather mediocre human beings and this is what defines them.

Like, they're "different" and so they need to be treated delicately by the rest of society. We must all use new pronouns and respect their identity, whichever sex they decide to be at any given moment.

The way I’m able to empathize with a female perspective.
How do you know this isn't just empathy?
Quote
The way I speak.

Women speak a certain way? Have you always spoken like a woman? Isn't this just learned?
Quote
The way I write.
Isn't this also learned? What does this even mean?
Quote
The way I dress.
Didn't you choose to do this after you figured out you were a woman?
Quote
The way my female friends respond to me and the way people online respond to me.
Can you elaborate on what this means?
Quote
But above all that you just know.
Since it seems harder to articulate, do you mind sharing some concrete personal experiences which made you gradually come to the conclusion that you're a woman (in addition to the other things you are)?

Gotta do a long drive but I will answer all these questions after. I’m happy someone is curious.

Southeast Asian and Indian region cultures have third gender identities historically. Native American tribes have some of that, but I wouldn't compare that as the same thing.  I feel animalistic/shaministic worldviews are built-in with a transitional or morphic allowance for identity.

You publicly quit GAF in a huff over Mass Effect, made your own blog, and jumped on the train of the next thing to come along so you could be an admin. I'd say that's a lot more effort than mailing in a ballot and having an effect on your city, state and country. It's pretty shameful that the only thing that got you to take any action was children getting murdered in your backyard. I guess it's better than nothing.

Someone in this argument looks ludicrous but it's the guy who got more worked up over a sci-fi video game than making his voice heard and engaging with his country politically, not me. Not to mention you live in a swing state. You honestly should be ashamed of yourself for even trying to defend your behavior.

Woman vomited fecal matter for three days before she died after a surgeon botched an operation and blocked her bowel

A shame she didn’t get a chance to do a porn scene before she died.

I’d like a link to this “huff” and where it was made so public. I posted one last time in the Mass Effect community thread on GAF which was a very small community with little exposure, and left. I couldn’t care less if someone does or doesn’t like a game.

The fact that you’re even saying one thing has any effect on going out to vote is absurd. Might as well say “Hey, when you were watching TV shows, hung out at the beach or went to movie theaters, you could have voted”.

Do you really just not see how stupid this sounds?

Nah, you don't get to hide your continued excuses in PM

If you don't realize how much of a shitbag moron you sound like defending not voting we're done talking. Like I said before, I'm glad you decided to finally vote. That's no reason to excuse your terrible behavior before and if you weren't an admin you'd be getting it from everyone else. How dare you so casually admit to not voting IN FLORIDA OF ALL STATES and then call my posting stupid. Shame on you.

I know understand why you see yourself as Newman. You are a sad little coward and you make it worse every time you defend your reprehensible behavior. You are also a liar when it comes to Mass Effect but that really has nothing to do with your absence of morals and any sense of civic duty.
