Doesn't look too bad on PC. $10, no lootboxes and 64 player online.

I'm playing the single player campaign for now.

It's very safe.

I'm maybe a 1/3rd of the way through and it has so far taught me that the right trigger is shoot and A is jump, so I think I'm ready for online.

I grabbed the 10 hour trial from Origin and wasn't even able to get the fucking thing to launch. It would just crash at the main loading screen. I was able to get it to work once and played the first two missions of the SP. It was pretty shocking to me how dull it was, felt like multiplayer maps with bots jammed into some kind of narrative.

Then it stopped working again and I uninstalled it. :piss2

It'll be 5$ in a few months. They got me the first time, I ain't falling for this bullshit twice in a row. EA's complete bungling of the PR for this lately def doesn't endear me to it either

Everyone in the campaign looks like their mouth is way too big for their head. Everyone has Edward G. Robinson head.

Got the first one for $5 long after release and it was kinda cool, was like Battlefield but with fancy Star Wars graphics and music almost exactly as I expected, it was even more so with lots of not getting into a squad and thus running for hours to the frontline before being shot by some dude I never saw. Maps were oddly empty feeling despite 40 players and them being kinda linear.

All why these jackasses fly all over the map slaughtering everyone instantly. And yet our team still won even though I wasn't sure what the objectives were and I'm pretty sure I was one of just five people attempting them.

Two stars.

Since the first one is like $10 bux now, I should probably get around to buying it to play a few rounds with bots before I get tired after like 10 hours. Similar to the beta for it. :doge

I was surprised, it was pretty easy to get in a full game earlier this summer. Didn't seem to die off as near immediately as Hardline.

Too bad about the progression meta game being utterly fucked by EA to make me spend extra money (not happening EA, fuck you)

Because the core game is really really fun, at least to everyone who usually enjoy DICE shooters.
And added to that, it's one of the best looking (and greatest sounding) games i've ever played.

Was playing the EA Access trail and the game looks fantastic but the MP in this game has never grabbed me. Something about the laser gun focus means feedback doesn't feel as good as something like Battlefield.

I'll wait for this to hit the Vault and play the SP next year

What's funny is that laser gun feeling is in Battlefield 1 as well. Even the "Battle Classes" or whatever they call the Elite units was taken from NuFront 1. Made the game play awful IMO because they're trying to merge the two to help development in the studio be one thing or whatever.

BF1's biggest flaw for me was that is was too arcade like. BF4 and BF3 hit the sweet spot between realistic shooter and video game feeling. BF1 was too lame in that regard and the weapon balance was completely gone at least at launch.

Finished the single player story missions last night. I can see why Disney was so angry at EA about this - there are some pretty good story reveals that ties in some Rogue One, Return of the Jedi, and both The Force Awakens and Last Jedi. The ending goes in some places. So Disney allows EA to have some of the canon and all everyone can concentrate on is the loot box gambling system. it's no wonder they got pissed.

Unfortunately no. Just split-screen arcade mode.

BF1's biggest flaw for me was that is was too arcade like. BF4 and BF3 hit the sweet spot between realistic shooter and video game feeling. BF1 was too lame in that regard and the weapon balance was completely gone at least at launch.

BF4 is a mixed bag for me. It fixes some problems that BF3 had (The goddamn suppression system. Holy shit. When that got buffed, have someone in your squad with that, have someone in your squad with speed, have someone with squad grenade [+1 more to throw], have someone with suppression down maybe [come on, don't be an idiot have it on]. DON'T AIM TO WIN!) but felt... weaker than BF3. I honestly preffered some BF3 systems and base maps over 4's.

4 had like 2-3 maps that I wanted to play on, the DLC was a bit eh... some good, some bad. BF3's had some solid maps with some issues (too far flags, chokepoints) but they were interesting enough to want to play on. Close Quarters aside.

Really, DICE has been on a downhill slope with new outings post Bad Company 2: Vietnam for me. Even they admitted they have no idea why people enjoyed it so much and can't do a BC3 because of it (hint: Because it's fucking fun, man.gif) and it shows in the way they can't just... copy BC2's destruction, nerf it a little bit, fix the helicopters rotors (which they did in BF3/4 but still had problems) maybe fix the lock-ons to where they weren't completely dominating in BF3/4 and they'd be good.

NuFront just... I don't know. It tries to go for the casual market and then completely fucks up: There's no recoil on the guns (like duh, they're lasers. So...), but then the Star Card system was dumb in 1, then completely gash in the face-P2W system in 2. Then they made vehicles less a random map pick-up (good) but made the points so high to make them kinda pointless (bad).

There's a good core for NuFront here that if DICE actually had someone there to guide them, they'd be able to knock it out of the park (without EA's meddling) but they don't. And Battlefield is kinda suffering for it and EA wanting them to be a Star Wars studio instead of a Battlefield and Rallysport Challenge company. :maf

On the other hand:

https://www.pcgamesn.com/star-wars-battlefront-2/battlefront-2-multiplayer-restored

Patch just dropped for "classic" to fix the multiplayer issues. Let's see!

...Sorta. You can get into games now, but there's "connection lost" and freezing/crashing currently. :doge Nearly there, CD Project. Nearly there.
