The look kinda reminds me of Powered Up, I dig it. I wish they'd put out another Megaman game with a level creator.

Also they announced all MMX games are coming to PS4/X1/Switch/Steam too  :D

Physics looks like they tried to emulate the NES games way too closely and Mega Man's animation look really weird. But it looks better than Mighty No. 9 at least

I swear to God just make a new Mega Man series. Any time they make Mega Man now it's a new classic Mega Man. X games exist. Zero games exist. ZX games exist. You have multiple legacies to impart inspiration for a Mega Man but it's always this classic MM shit. The silver lining is that this game isn't another nes nostalgia fest like 9 and 10 but even that's not the best thing either because the game lacks visual flair.

What more could they possibly get from the classic MM game formula? They didn't even manage to ever perfect the ZX formula, which had a ton of potential. We have a reverse Castlevania situation where instead of the company only finding the latter day game formula worth pursuing, you only have the classic formula, and people waited how many years for a new Mega Man game? 7? And it looks boring af.

Here's the announcement trailer.

And it's like Mega Man walks by a bunch of X games, and they're like,"these games SORT of exist, we will not confirm or deny because the only games that matter are classic MM games" and I just get infuriated the more the video goes on.

I am a MMZ stan and this fucker just walked up a ladder and waltzed past all of em as if to say lol only nes mega man matters lol. :stop

I'd kill for a new X game that is X4 quality and looked just like this art style.

Looks a step above MN9 at least, though visually it's got that uninspiring plastic look that most 2.5D conversions of classic 2D sprite art games tend to have. Wish they went with a hand-drawn aesthetic along the lines of Cuphead.

Wait, wasn’t 9 or 10 the fucking awesome modern 8-bit one from about 4-5 years ago? I remember really enjoying it. What was wrong with it?

Capcom should rerelease the crappy PC gamepad the original MMX  PC port came with.

It's like, let's steal the Genesis 6-button layout, but let's also sort of steal the SNES button layout as well and just have the rows of buttons going nearly vertical.

Huh. Uh, well, I guess, why not.

Don't like the 2.5D tho. No sir. Gimme bootiful pixels or deaf.

Might be tempted to rebuy the initial X game, haven't played the non-PAL-slowdown'd version to completion yet.

Wouldn't mind some zany spinoff though. Like Megaman Soccer. A CCG. Or action-y RPG-y loot game where you descend into a scrap heap to fight new and old bosses. Or a new take on the battle network angle.

Confession time, I'm actually some kind of MM pariah. I never got the skill requirements for the MM games. For me, it's the best when I just shoot the shit with mildly challenging jump and run segments followed by an exciting, but ultimately only mildly challenging boss battle. Never got into the whole "out of sequence" thing or speed running or no boss weakness runs. What's the point of spending three minutes perfectly evading a boss while chipping away a pixel of its life bar at a time. I mean, I still enjoyed MM9, but I would never really want to replay it, nor would I ever bother to perfect it. I completely lost interest in ZX for a few weeks when the first thing you do is fight a Snake miniboss that you need to hit like three billion times. Not my kind of idea of fun.

I was expecting them to at least tease something new by the end of that stream. One somewhat basic and weird looking game for a 30 year anniversary after 7 years with nothing is pretty lackluster. I mean, at least they tried with Sonic

Yes. I got the same shitty controller with the BAD DOS port of Super Street Fighter II (there was another one distributed by Gametek that had been ported by Eurocom, that is superb)

There was one version of SF2 for DOS done by the same guys behind Mega Man Dos. I worked with those guys, they said Capcom gave them almost nothing to work with for SF2 and had to reverse engineer/guess the whole way. Mega Man DOS was an original game that they made into a Mega Man game super quick.

And on that subject:
