So yeah I've been employed for two weeks now
+Cut down commute to work by 12-15 hours a week.
+Cut down working hours by around 2 hours a week.
+Combined that's at least 26% less hours "on the job".
+Get to exercise on the job, no need for gym. Walking between 12 and 20 km a day.
+Work outside the office in fresh air and sunshine.
+Less to no stress, no targets.
+Get to improve my Danish as I only talk Danish.
+Get to be a bit more in the local community, rather then getting to know people 50km away in another town.
-Took a 44% wage cut.
-Work outside so weather can also be rain and snow.
Overall I'm very happy even if this job is kind uneducated and lower status I guess, I can see myself walking the beat for a few years and get in shape, practice my Danish, and be a part of the local community more. And while the work is simple it does take a lot from me mentally to be out there and forced to talk and listen Danish all the time. The wage cut is going to get some adjusting too as our fun money just plummeted but the financials still look alright as my wife has a cool job. If you factor in the fact I commute and work about 26% less now the 44% wage cut less painful. Important thing is I'm no dreading to go to work anymore and it doesn't keep me up at night and worry me when I come home.
Well I'm off to write some parking tickets.
