If there was a better balance I'd assume people would complain less;  at least less people would. 

It's akin to "representation" arguments.

Note: not something I take issue with, and I know several female gamers who love sexualized female characters, that's about the only counter-argument I ever ask about.. but then it boils down to a lack of non-sexualized characters not necessarily "zero sexualization" for the more rational people.

I have this feeling RE will never stop complaining. No one even seems to acknowledge that things have quite changed in western games and that by now 99% of the "offenders" come from Japan. Some of them seem to be genuinely set on getting rid of every sexualised character.

Is a trashy novel with ton stuff that people will say that is "problematic" before the Social Studies crazyfest of today, but suddenly it is not okay that people mock a piece of enterteiment that is the equivalent of supermarket romance novels because the fanbase does not like it or is unfair to a now rich as heck author. People did mock stuff like Fast and Furious before Vin Diesel cameback to that franchise and Stephanie Mayers bank account will probably care less aout nerds bitching about it.

I will not judge people for liking it, fuck I know I like questionable shit (Tron Legacy and Love Live in the tip of my head), but the criticism did have its merits and downplaying with "sexism" is pretty desingenious to me. YA books dont need to be shitty.

I mean it's a percentage thing; almost all women in video games are sexualized, less so than men are. 

If there was a better balance I'd assume people would complain less;  at least less people would. 

It's akin to "representation" arguments.

Note: not something I take issue with, and I know several female gamers who love sexualized female characters, that's about the only counter-argument I ever ask about.. but then it boils down to a lack of non-sexualized characters not necessarily "zero sexualization" for the more rational people.

I have this feeling RE will never stop complaining. No one even seems to acknowledge that things have quite changed in western games and that by now 99% of the "offenders" come from Japan. Some of them seem to be genuinely set on getting rid of every sexualised character.

I'd kind of like to see the market react to a scenario where we have 100% conservatively-dressed, respectfully-portrayed women in all video games for like 5 years, and then suddenly one company dares to release a game with some titillation.  Mysteriously it somehow performs better than anything else within those 5 years, and everyone is like

It's almost as if they're complaining about things based on popularity and how many outrage points they can get rather than how likely/responsible a piece of work should be for pushing the agenda. A book on Feminism advocates a toxic idea. Whispers. A trashy romance novel that sells a few thousand copies has hugely problematic content. Nothing. A trashy romance novel that sells millions has problematic content? Better boot up twitter and youtube.
