Well, by attaching 'dissociative identity disorder' to it you are already pathologising it. In other words, there is something else going on that is outside of the norm whatever the cause. Modern transgender politics sees gender as just a spectrum, and so people can identitfy as both, or neither, or as another gender entirely.

I have nothing against people who want to express or identify themselves a certain way. What I find interesting however, is the way some people assume that by 2077 the gender-binary will be some kind of distant relic which we will no longer define ourselves by. Like the shackles of gender have been removed and now people are free to define themselves as they please. People will be free to express themselves in any way they choose and no one will bat an eyelid.

I just think, this may not necessarily be so. You are dismissing the possibility that biological underpinnings have an influence on or inform gender. I personally believe that not a lot will change. The majority of people will continue to identify in the same way we have always identified, and the same 10 art students will insist on some kind of gender-neutral identity.

This is a game that, while not perfectly optimized, can run on a very shitty PC.

Most of the customization options are missing. The game runs at a single digit frame rate most of the time. Many assets are less complex and simple things (like the rope that winds up on a catapult) are just missing.

I think the biggest issue with Era these days is that there are no actual experts. Nobody knows WTF theyre talking about.

Go to a railroad enthusiast forum, and you have people with 40 years of railroad experience. People who drive trains. People who lay tracks. People who work in the corporate office. There are people there to learn, yes, but they ask questions, they dont post like theyre experts. Thats not to say everybody is right, but at least they're pulling from real-world experience.

Same is true in a forum about theme parks.

Same is true in a forum about AV equipment.

I assume the same is true in forums about cars or postage stamps, or whatever other hobbies people have.

Era doesnt have that. Nobody there works at the ESRB. Nobody there works at any developer of note. The closest ties to the industry involve working a minimum wage job at Gamestop.

It's even worse in OT. The people who post in Poliera proclaim themselves experts, but they dont know shit. The people who post in the World Cup thread apparently started watching the sport last week.

But they have the FRANCHISE DEVELOPER of HALO.
And the community manager of some indie game you haven't heard about
And of course the voice of GameXplain

It's pretty fine if you want to actually talk about videogames in the official threads and communities, though. There aren't many forums left with an active userbase and what are the alternatives? Gamefaqs lol? Were people troll the PS4 board for days over a gay kiss?
