NCsoft bribed the shit out of the top WoW and variety streamers to play WildStar for a week or whatever when it launched and it didn’t move the needle. I’m surprised it lasted so long.
WildStar had great style and interesting story/universe, but sold itself on "remember old school WoW, how hard it was, remember 40 man raids, yeah it's all back baby"
And then nobody wanted to do it because that was all shit at the time
Every singe trash mob was a life or death struggle, sometimes people just want to go out and relax and farm or level up for a while, nope you had to be on the ball 24/7 or die
Dungeons were so difficult, even starter 5 man ones, that nobody wanted to do them, dungeons that should've been starter trash were as tough as raids, you could NOT pug them
They introduced a massive 40v40 warplots pvp thing where your guild could build and outfit a warplot to fight against another, and warplot battles happened maybe 5 times in the history of the game because it was impossible to get that many people together for anything
A whole guild would be like "yeah whoooo warplot night let's queue up" but if nobody was queuing on the opposing faction it was pointless, so you had to organize on forums or something, and even then the matchmaking wouldn't connect you both, the
only two warplots active and searching for each other in the entire gameBut it's still a shame because the concept and style was great, all wasted on shit game design
