Who cares anymore? The billions of people that like Star Wars? The Last Jedi made over a billion at theaters and then it’s home media release will end up being the best selling release of 2018. Star Wars is a cultural entertainment franchise. Nobody cares about the internet debate over it. Nobody cares about the anti men or women shit that people read into it. It’s a little early to claim to none cares or the reception will be lukewarm to the next main movie because some nerds didn’t like one movie.

Solo didn't just bomb relative to other Star Wars films, it just straight up bombed given its budget. It's probably going to lose tens of millions of dollars.

But that doesn't mean Ep. 9 will bomb. Solo faced a bunch of problems. 8 had just been released a few months before, and the few weeks before its release had just seen Infinity War and Deadpool 2. Expecting general audiences to en masse see a third blockbuster movie within a month was a fools game.

So Solo isn't necessarily an indictment of Star Wars as a franchise going forward. Still, it did prove that Star Wars is not the guaranteed success it's always been assumed to be.

I will give TLJ this, I always thought if you really want to grow the Star Wars brand, you have to revive it (Which they did with TFA) then you have to kill off all the connections  with the original trilogy and start your own thing with your own characters. Solo's marketing/release was bad for a variety of reasons: it was released just 5 months after TLJ; the first teaser didn't hit until February, three months before the movie came out; marketing amounted to "You like Han Solo, right? Here's Han Solo! But a different actor and he's young now." The whole thing reeked of arrogance on Disney's part, that they could just slap Star Wars on the poster and people would flock to it, rather than making an effort to sell the movie on its own merits.
