To be honest gaming culture ain't nothing to brag about and the whole self identification as a gamer (or a geek) being reflected upon isn't a bad thing. I'm not sure the way Era does it is very constructive though.
The problem with REE is that they're disgusted by the word 'Gamer' and don't wish to be called gamers.
Yet at the same time they buy $80 cardboard, sploosh their pants when Nintendo announces a new Nintendo Direct and doxx or harass developers and journalists on social media.
I don't see the issue with calling yourself a gamer. Football fans don't stop calling themselves football fans because of some British hooligans.
And Bikers don't stop calling themselves bikers even though there are bikers that form violent gangs.
You can't just go about changing the definition of the word 'gamer' because it doesn't suit you.
If you play video games you are a gamer. Until they come up with 153 different new phrases to describe what sort of video game participant you are I guess.
