I don't disagree with that plain definition of "gamer" but I don't think you can ignore that just a few years ago there was heated debates over "hardcore gamers" and "casual gamers" and obviously a lot of inconclusive soul searching about what those meant. The term "gamer" has long been imbued with the idea that's not just about playing games (an incredibly trivial activity) but indicates an above average level of investment, just like "bookworm" or "movie buff / cinéphile" denotes passion rather than the binary, mundane "I do X" -> Y/N.

Not to me, I was just expanding on PD's point about how the NBA makes it exist even though nobody really wants it. Female basketball fans generally want the NBA, not the WNBA just because they're fee-males.

The NBA has spent billions on the WNBA and it's possibly less popular now than it was when they started it and women's basketball is more popular in a place like Russia with the same exact players.

An easy way to figure out if an outfit design is pure bullshit is simply by asking the extremely basic question, "does anything about this character's background make them gravitate to this type of outfit?", and as is so often the case with female characters in these games, the answer is very obviously "fucking no!"

The problem is that it's not a good product. Female tennis is entertaining and a clear level of skill is on display, plus it benefits from having the greatest female tennis player active and winning (Serena). Yea it doesn't compare to male tennis but it's still good. Whereas the skill level in the WNBA is so much lower on every level it might as well be a different sport, and there are no "great" single players who stir interest or ratings.
