Romania is very poor.

For example, a dinner in a nice restaurant in The Netherlands or Germany would likely set you back 40 - 60 euro's per person. Depending on how 'fancy' you want to eat.
For that kind of money you can feed an entire village in Romania. So $20 is cheap compared to dental care in western Europe and the US but still a lot of money for the Romanians themselves.

One of my buddies often goes there on holiday because his parents run some sort of charity thing and have a second house there.

Most of the Eastern European/Balkan countries are quite poor beyond their capitals and thus insanely cheap compared to western Europe, Asia and the US.
Despite the fact that they have developed nicely over the last couple of years and are 'relatively' stable.

Thing is, they use one or two examples of some posters not following the "right way of thinking" in massive threads as proof that the entire site is "unsafe and hostile" to women and minorities. You have a thread where some actor's former girlfriend make a Tweet accusing him of abusing her. 99% of the thread are going "fuck him", "milk shake duck", "asshole". You may have a hand full of posters saying they will wait before condemning him, and they then use those scant few outliers in that thread as proof women on ERA are oppressed and should be in fear of even posting. It's ridiculous, even more so when you consider those scant few souls that goes off the beaten path are instantly dogpiled and banned on sight.

This narrative that ERA is a super hostile environment for women and minorities is such bullshit if you take even a brief glance of how ERA operates.

I just wanted to bring up a discussion about parenting and video gaming in general. But I supposed having a bit of competition is fine.

I have just promised my little brother the following:

    If he defeats me in a multiplayer game of his choice, I will buy him a Switch and 3 games of his choosing.
    If I defeat him in a multiplayer game of his choice, I will buy him a Switch and 1 game of his choosing.
    If however, at any point in time, he makes a fuss, then there shall be no forgiveness, and I won't buy him a Switch.


The point I want to drive home to my little brother, is so he can understand what it means to lose and still have fun playing video games.

I really don't want to encourage bad behaviors like fussing about losing, and being mad/sad/angry at other players (me included) for winning.

Am I doing this the right way? I probably would be out $400 to $550 in a short amount of time and probably wouldn't be able to pay rent, but I think it's worth it to teach him how to behave well.

But you can all go ahead and convince me this isn't the right way, and maybe you're right. But if you have your ways of handling bad behaviors and/or parenting done right, I would love to hear more about them below.
