It's 3:36 a.m. right now as I type this. There is a situation that for many will not sound like a big deal, but it is affecting my life right now.

I live in a two-story house that me and my wife purchased 3 years ago. The house is made of cinder blocks like most houses in my country (México). All the houses in the neighborhood are built the same.

Here in my city (and most of the country), central air conditioners are not a thing. Here we use ductless split systems, one for each room.

But since two weeks ago, the system from my neighbor is making a low tone humming sound. I don't know how to explain it, but the fan of his ductless is making a very low humming constant sound. And the sound can't be covered. The tone is very low... I can hear it my skull. I have tried everything. White noise on a speaker next to my bed, ear plugs, headphones. It's like the ductless system is resonating with my house.

But the straw that broke the camel's back happened just today. I'm here alone downstairs trying to sleep in the couch, away from my wife and daughter, wearing headphones. And I can still hear the humming sound.

Since two weeks ago, it is stressing to think about the night time. I will talk to my neighbor tomorrow morning and see if I can get a technician come over and take a look at the ductless system. But I'm afraid. What if the technician can't do anything?

I can't live like this. It is seriously affecting my life. I can't sleep.
