I've learned years ago not to buy COD on PC if you want a healthy MP experience with legs. The first few weeks are great, but then the number of players slowly fades away.

Console never disappoints.

Enjoy your 1,000 players on Battle.net, Activision-Blizzard. :gaben

Publishers leaving Steam to do their own shitty client is the worst timeline. At least put your shit on Steam as well to continue to make some money from people not willing to suffer your shit exclusively like Ubisoft does, damn it.

Cod battle royale actually sounds interesting, the worst thing about footnote is the gunplay is not that great (and the dumb building mechanic).

Though, obviously titan fall royale is what America needs.

my favorite r6 dude weighs in and says pretty much the same stuff I've been hearing. Some good changes but they didn't go far enough/half assed it a bit. Which also runs in line with what I had heard. That they basically went full OW team based early on but testers hated it so they started all over.

I've seen some sniper fuckery during my time over the weekend. Overall though, it's still COD and beta. It will be much more polished in the final version.

My biggest gripe is the time between matches. Finish a match wait 15 seconds. Next countdown starts at 80 seconds! then if all goes smooth and there isn't much player movement, it loads the map for a good 10-15 seconds. Then you pick your character during another 15 second countdown.

i kinda like it so far

heft, footspeed and lack of flying makes it feel more like Ghosts, which despite its many many problems had some "feel" to it that i quite liked and led me to play more than the rest of the game justified...and even more so than WWII did which still had dudes runnin around too fast

they totally have to do something about these scorestreaks and specialist abilities that are instakills that last for huge periods though, the one robot takes two direct rocket hits to kill, nobody is equipped with rockets by default but the one specialist, few people make it their secondary when they level up, so it just stalks around the map murdering everyone, generally from behind

the flamethrower/radioactive specialist is epic trollin, especially the radioactive one if you stop it right before you kill yourself and hit HEAL since it goes through walls, has epic AOE and nobody knows what to do...was sitting on control point behind a pillar, see it's "contested" pop my radioactive, half the dudes die and the rest bail out with tons of damage, then HEAL myself and shoot them as they come back...also seems like an ideal counter to that stupid shield which surprisingly i only saw once despite that character being in every game i played

i gotta say the HEAL is kinda more of a gamechanger than anything, the ability to pop into cover or use temporary quiet periods to heal up is great, dudes really don't use it like they should to the point this guy was throwing a fit watching the endgame cam of our last guy screaming HEALLLLLLLLL at him

i like the last man standing countdown in Control, that's more fun than a clock countdown, we managed a full spawn wave to trigger it that let us hold the last point, also helps speed up the endgame of rounds instead of it just being a grindfest

certainly won't day one this, but it's more likely i buy this than WWII which i got enough fun of from the alpha, beta and free weekends...especially if they do a $15 multi-only version like III had (especially since battle royale and zombies not exactly caring about, while i did eventually want III's campaign), III never clicked for me, and the connection stuff was shitty, so even that was probably a waste...that's one another thing i give this a solid score so far for, even though it's probably just a shit load of people playing the beta, i didn't have the Treyarch Patented SIT IN A LOBBY BY YOURSELF FOREVER IF YOU WANT™ loop happen once

the beta sliced Titanfall 2's player count in half tonight, i was like "wtf where did everyone go...oh yeah, that game i'm going to try after happy hour duh" :lol

They certainly fixed the time in between matches this weekend. Much quicker.

Heist is a nice change. Though I bet it's more fun communicating with your team. I refuse to talk to anyone and don't want to hear anyone either.

Heist seemed like it's not quite fully built yet, that they might be using the Beta data to tweak it. The single pickups for heal/ammo were totally getting hoarded by certain people every round. The shock drone needs to be taken out, all the rest of the stuff in Heist requires the player to actively do something, it seeks out a free kill for your team and it costs like nothing. I think scopes for the guns cost more.

They might want to put more clear info on the game goal for Heist. We fell down 3-0 in a match, to come back and win 4-3, because in three straight rounds, the last person or last two people on the other team didn't realize they had to pick up the cash AND get it to the extract.

Had a game where people from the first round that died, T-poses were standing where they were dropped for the rest of the game and everyone was shooting at them before realizing what they were. :lol

After messing around with everything, I went back to just playing Control, I really quite like it. The permanent spawns are more enjoyable than the random spawns and endless circling of Hardpoint/Domination. I also as mentioned above like the clock/life thing.

And dropping from above or suddenly popping out of nowhere right into a bunch of enemies and activating my radioactiveness to destroy everyone is hott. Glad to see the "play of the game" is just like Overwatch in that someone annihilating everyone on a point, capturing it and finishing off some dudes doesn't get replayed but a guy sniping from ten miles away and getting two kills does. Though the best are the ones for multikills with the Mantis, because it shows the dude just laying down operating the tablet, then cuts to the explosion of the rocket killing people. Also that thing can totally get fucked. It's basically the only instant slaughter weapon available in the beta, Black Ops III had like fifteen of those stupid scorestreaks to where one team would become invincible. Even that absurd shield didn't seem to be as impossible in action as it could be because dudes would chase so getting them in the back and them freaking out seemed to put a stop to it.

I did manage to get a play of the game from gunning down like two dudes on a point and then sprinting under a window to the wall and turning on the juice to kill a sniper through the wall. But dropping down on a point, murdering like three dudes, then popping my flamethrower to burn up the rest of the team != PLAY OF THE GAME. Instead it was some loser on the losing team sniping from a standstill watching an almost meaningless corner. Just like Overwatch! :lawd

As toku mentioned, and the video above, I definitely can see an outline of what probably happened with this game. Black Ops III comes out in 2015 with the starting aspects of a "hero shooter" so when Overwatch comes along in beta at roughly the same time and then takes off in the year after, Treyarch goes further in that direction while dropping back to "boots on the ground" probably partly in relation to the IW backlash and the fact that WWII is doing the same thing. (The latter probably also inspired them to take a look at the health system for the first time in a decade.) So they're working on MP and Zombies, maybe working on the outlines of a campaign to toss together during the final year of the cycle with the MP/Zombies assets like usual (or vice versa in the older games), when PUBG takes off and then Fortnite does the same. So either they offered to or Activision probably said "you can just go ahead and scrap that campaign if you do Battle Royale." (I assume Heist probably comes from them workshopping how the MP plays with limited and diverse weapons/abilities/no scorestreaks/etc. to be implemented into the BR. You won't be buying them, but finding them or whatever. But the buy menu and single lives allows a quick way to test out engagements with the limitations not in the regular MP.)

Main thing is I really hope they don't up the speed of everything. BOIII was too absurdly fast considering how clunky the movement system is. COD has never been smooth enough as Titanfall to employ that speed and also operate on the vertical or god forbid a diagonal axis. I could be wrong but when I played the free weekend of WWII it felt a little bit faster than I remembered the alpha and betas as and I didn't like it quite as much. (Maybe it was just familiarity, as using cover seemed to matter more in the alpha/beta.) The speed in this of everyone felt almost ideal aside from a couple max level players who had railgun SMG's and using the one speedy lady specialist with I assume the speed up perks.

Even still, their movement speed and such plus the fact they wouldn't fucking fly in the air into a long slide all while shooting those railguns made them much easier to deal with than BOIII. :lol

As much as I love a grapple, I like that the dude's grapple is so loud and distinct and also that it has some time to it to pull him in. If you're going to limit it to one player per team that's a pretty good way to do it. You hear that THUNK and know some asshole is going to be flying in at you defenseless. I only saw one person using it diagonally and thus effectively swinging with it ala Titanfall. And they used it to propel themselves up over some junk and then use his groundsmash to kill a bunch of dopes who didn't look up. I approve of that usage, especially since they could have shot him out of the air had he tried it alone rather than with teammates as a distraction.

I clocked thousands of rounds in PUBG over PC, Mobile and Xbox, and god damn..

:doge BlackOut is a serious contender. The inventory system is a bit wack, but the gameplay is tight, the gunplay is great. Technically, the framerate is perfect (from what I played so far).

Try it this weekend, if you're not a fan of the super serious tactical pugb gameplay and the babby's first fps feel of Fortnite, the game feels straight in the middle of both style of BR games. It might just be the perfect mix

I hate that this is buried in an expensive-ass AAA game, because I'm pretty sure this is now the best BR by a good mile. Been playing the beta on PC and it's pretty terrific and miles ahead of PUBG.

I played the black ops 4 multiplayer beta and it was just too much for me. It was too fast. The maps were too small. It felt like an adhd wet dream. COD has been moving in this direction for years of course but the regular multiplayer was just the final step over that line for me.

Blackout by comparison actually makes sense to me in that game. It's frenetic and chaotic at times, but it also has slow moments where you can get your bearings and senses together. It uses the full toolkit of weapons unlike the base game where snipers and acogs and stuff don't make sense. The map is iconic and nostalgic. And when you play in squads its more tactical than public games of cod generally feel. No annoying mega killstreaks to deal with.

I doubt I'll buy the game at launch and I may not buy it at all but the main reason I would buy it is specifically for that blackout mode instead of the base multiplayer which doesn't really interest me. If that mode was free to play it would be a mega success.
