Splitting this into its own topic. Sure, it's about an FGC guy, but it has nothing to do with fighting games.
yeah i've seen a bit about that but i find it somewhat difficult to take "u/criminal-seonwoo-lee" at their word as being unbiased in the situation. there's not much to go on other than a few images and an audio recording that is not translated. supposedly it's also very difficult to access korean record websites without access to a korean ssn equivalent so there's not a lot of ways to verify this info.
what is kinda weird is they also accused him of defrauding razer when he was sponsored by them and markman immediately jumped in and said that wasn't the case but didn't say a word on the other parts.
There are some translations that have popped up and I didn't see anyone disputing them. You can also feed his ex-wife's tweets into Google Translate and get a general idea of what she's been saying. They are absolutely about a court case- The first one says that the opposing lawyers told her she can't say anything about the situation publicly.
Apparently the facts/sequence of events are as follows:
1. Infiltration's marriage ends after only six months
2. His ex-wife took him to court, citing that he beat her numerous times. He also verbally-abused her and she recorded it, but this was inadmissible in court and she got the transcription done, which was accepted. She won this case.
3. Unsure if these events took place before or after this, but she got a restraining order against him, and when it was over, he assaulted her
again.4. A lawsuit is currently on-going and Infiltration is not required to be in court for this, just his lawyer.
5. After these events got out, his sponsor, Panda Gaming, suspended him from playing at TGS this weekend.
What I believe is not (supposedly) factual and can be treated more as rumor/hearsay is that he defrauded Razer and that he went to Japan this week to "escape" what was happening in Korea. The latter makes no sense to me since he was supposed to be there for Panda Gaming at TGS.
I don't know a thing the South Korean legal system, but what has me scratching my head a bit here is that if he was taken to court and it was proven that he was beating the shit out of and verbally abusing his wife (like a psycho- if you read the translations, it's some sick, sick shit), then assaulting her after a restraining order was issued, how the hell he is not in jail and allowed to leave the country? Furthermore, NOBODY in Korea said anything about this until now? Nobody at all?
The counter people are saying is that "it's a part of Korean culture and this stuff happens often," but...
come on. I find that hard to believe. Also wondering why A) Random Reddit guy pops up and says he/she knew all this for months and months and only now came forward and B) why everyone is so quick to believe of all it. I don't just mean REEEEEEEEE, where they all immediately began shitting on him when we didn't have much to go on, but even his sponsor. The fact that they are taking this so seriously already to me is a sign that this stuff is probably all true.
The best response I've seen towards this situation was a tweet that said something along the lines of "either Infiltration did some horrible, sick shit or someone is trying to bury the guy with false information...and either way, it's entirely fucked up."
