Now that I'm nearing the end the game has entered a new phase. I can pretty go anywhere and there's altered objects all over the place.
There's really a lot to do and find in this game. Such a breath of fresh air playing an interesting game like this after a session of Gears 5.  :aah

This game is pretty boring and generic so far. Also you could crack a walnut with Jesse's chin

It goes something like this:

PC RTX On > PC RTX Off > Xbox One X > PS4 Pro > Xbox One > PS4

It goes something like this:

PC RTX On > PC RTX Off > Xbox One X > PS4 Pro > Xbox One > PS4

Also to note, PS4 has exclusive content- the big one being an extra mission featuring Hideo Kojima in a speaking role.  But this is only available if you get the digital deluxe version.

I think it gets better.., but the real draw is the atmosphere and grafx.

Combat improves as you get more powers and guns though. I really feel like they don’t give that stuff out quick enough. I felt like it didn’t really get interesting until I could start mind controlling enemies.

Ya'll serious about this junk game? Alan Wake shits on this, Quantum Break just barely squeaks past it. I don't think you could come up with a more uninteresting story and terrible ending. Sam Lake lost.

I started it on PS4 (Pro)- gameplay wise, it's janky and I hate the excessive motion blur that can't be turned off.  Haven't hit anywhere where performance bothered me yet.

But none of that really mattered after I started getting into the game.  Love the atmosphere and story.  It's totally SCP: The Game.  Whereas in most other "AAA" type games I get bored and hate excessive cut scenes and all that crap, here I'm all for it and even like looking through all the documents you can find.

Yeah thank god on PC you can turn off the awful blur, it's just awful, but yeah once it gets it's hooks in, it really makes reading everything so much more interesting.

CONTROL is a piece of art. It just looks so damn good and interesting.

There's also a ton to find outside of the main missions. Some of the best content isn't even part of the main story.
Hidden bosses, environmental puzzles and secrets in every corner.

If Nintendo ever wants to get a new 3D Metroid off the ground they should give Remedy a call.

This game really is the Resident Evil 4 of this generation and blows away most other games that tried to accomplish the same but failed.

To be the RE4 of this generation it would have to sell enough to influence an entire genre. Ummm, not sure that is gonna happen...

I'm thinking that it will inspire a bunch of next gen games in terms of story telling, art direction, sound design and shows us what's possible with new technologies like ray tracing that will play center stage in the next generation.
RE4 didn't actually sell that well on GameCube when it came out. I didn't crack a million in its first year. The PS2 port did better but no version of RE4 ever sold more than 2 million copies.

A lot of industry big wigs are praising control and tweeting about it. It's going to have quite an impact. Maybe EA can take some cues to liven up their static as fuck Star Wars game.  :doge

One of the cooler technical aspects of Control is that it finally gave us the kind of destructible environments we were promised for next gen 15 years ago.

Are the SCP aspects just in text filews, or in the actual gameplay too?

Just beat this game and goddamn, it rules. Truly a return to form for Remedy and I didn't even dislike Quantum Break.

Best part was the Ashtray Maze.

Does that end up as part of the story? I found it and just sort of gave up after walking in circles a few times.

Yes, but I'm not sure what was so great about it. Just a run and gun segment with a song playing. Alan Wake did that too (better, even)

Maybe it's just me, but this game is harder then I thought it would be and these checkpoints don't help.

I'm on chapter 9 I believe and it's not my favorite Remedy game. But man does it keep you on your toes and when its fun, it's really fun. And jesus some of the effects in this game are amazing.

Yes, but wasn’t there already a performance patch? I guess maybe it keeps the hacked versions from easily getting the dlc.

Online only is so stupid, for singleplayer games.
It's not a problem where i live now, but when i lived outside the city, the internet would go away frequently (even with a light rain).

Also doing it after launch, is a doubly a dick move, unless they offer refunds.

I'm stoked that CONTROL got a bunch of awards and more people are starting to notice it.

If they had trailers like this, it probably would've been on the radar of many more people at release though.

EDIT 2: Remedy replied to this thread here: https://www.reddit.com/r/controlgame/comments/dizn5y/control_on_pc_is_no_longer_drmfree/f481d0o?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share Control has been updated to 1.04.01 on the Epic store, and not only does it retain the new Photo Mode, but it's completely DRM-free again. I'd like to thank Remedy for replying to this thread, and for fixing the problem that cropped up after the last update. Thanks to everyone involved!
