That DMC thread is a fucking cesspool. Jesus Christ.

Why the fuck are Lady and Trish even naked in the first place? Why is that not what bothers these people when they cry that their 3D asses are being covered up?
Quote from: Biestmann, Gender: Male
I absolutely agree with rras1994 about more male sexualization attempts not solving anything. Would hetero men be up in arms? Sure they would. But that wouldn't suddenly make them lament the same happening to women. Empathy is required for that, and a lot of men lack that period.
Quote from: Weltall Zero, Gender: Male
Yes, I'm talking about devs. Devs are, more often than not, gamers themselves. I'm both, for example.

If we assume they "know, but don't care", that women are made unconfortable; and that even experiencing that disconfort themselves is not going to change their minds, then how in hell do we change the status quo? It's all cool and peachy to talk about "men should listen to women and give a fuck about how they feel", but how do you propose to change that? "Should" is a nice wish, not a battle plan.

If we assume men simply don't know any better and mostly don't ever stop to put themselves in the shoes of others less fortunate than themselves, which in this case would be women, then there is still some hope that making them aware of their point of view will change things. This is my own assessment of the situation, not only because it gives us something to work towards rather than give up and watch the world burn, but because I'm a man myself. Hanlon's razor and simple lack of ever having suffered any discrimination explains men's behaviour far better than assuming malice, because, frankly, not ever putting in someone else's shoes is everyone's default behaviour.
so...like do women even post in this thread other than to catfight?

And that's also why they had a truck load more fun with a Borderlands (especially 2 and PreSequel) than with say DOOM 2016 ...
Because co-op means socializing and fun times together ... (also the revive mechanic combined with a cel shaded outlook makes the mere fact of reviving a mate an awesome moment for them )

Hell I can't count the times I had way more fun with ladies on Borderlands , than being stuck with dude friends on any other generic shootbang ...

But that's what I was trying to elude to , you don't need to have the game to be "typically feminine" to be enjoyed by ladies just design in such a way that your game doesn't end up being a toxic sludge factory ...

Hell why does Armello makes them ladies happy ? Because no ingame voice chat , pre written chat lines pronounced by your chosen hero that are in character , leading to some mild roleplaying being doable on the board . Boom bob's your uncle ladies are havin a blast ...

There's not a single bad thing about having sexy female characters in videogames. If there were only sexy women, it'd be a problem, but we get lots of average or even ugly characters nowadays. I always fail to see what's the problem with variety, and that's why that stupid ass thread makes me REEE

This makes the list seem legit.

Nintendo thinking they can sell Mario Galaxy on improved motion control and Capcom porting Resident Evil 5 is on brand.
But these things are usually a mix and match of existing rumors with wishful thinking sprinkled on top.

It's amazing to me how people here can watch a 20 minute video, form their opinion on the matter and post it within a couple of minutes.

Its a jim sterling video.
Its literally going to recycle the most downvoted comments on r/gaming controversial related to the name of the video, and then pad it out with waggling dildos and swearing for an extra 10 minutes.

There's not going to be a shymalan twist where he does his own research or formulates an independent thought that might challenge his mouth breathing patreons prejudice.

If there is something to be learned from the past few pages it's that peoples' perceptions on maturity aren't universal and this is reflected in reality as well as in art.
You want this to be the lesson, but it's far from the actual lesson.
The real lesson is that when there's harmful trends in a medium, those trends hurt everyone involved. They even hurt these temporarily benefiting from the trend (since their work fits to the trend), because even if their work does, they may not intentionally or willingy subscribe to the reasons of said trend. And yet remain part of it, and will be seen as part of it like any other part. We cannot escape the societal trends around us. We will always remain part of them. There's no escape, never.

The exact same artwork(!) outside of the context of the current infantilized-anime context, would be entirely fine and not even raise any notice whatsoever - as artwork, that piece is entirely fine.

But the context exists, independent of taste and perception. And we see this, from the current anime (the two last seasons had multiple outright pedo anime btw, including TWO DIFFERENT ONES(!!!!!!!!!!!!!) starring actual lesbian pedos(!!!!!!!!!!!!!), adding demonization of queer people to fuel the fetishes of straight guys) to the current games (including the gamer outrages when a big platform holder makes a company tone down the pedoness a slight, tiny bit).

That's the current context we live in. And as we see, it hurts everyone, from women that would like other kinds of characters (because we sure aren't getting that, and get attacked if we ask for other content, and routinely see men screeching about any woman that doesn't fulfil their little girl fantasy - again, see She-Ra, where a slight athletic frame caused a massive outburst among internet men) to women that like drawing such characters (because some dudes attack them harder than they attack dudes).

What'd really solve this is for there to be a much wider variety of female characters. The only thing that really solves this, to be honest. And for dudes to calm down.
