Nothing weird about 35 year old men going on quirky world-saving adventures with a bunch of naive teenagers!
https://www.resetera.com/threads/it’s-ridiculous-how-jrpg-games-are-labeling-and-presenting-men-in-their-30-as-“old”.109547/

Quote from: The Praiseworthy
It has been going on since forever, and now I’m playing Tales of Vesperia DF and the character Raven is only 35 years old and the whole game is filled with lines about how he is at a certain age and how his heart can’t take things like it used to anymore or how his body isn’t like what it used to be and many other lines treating and presenting the character like he is in late 80s :/

Quote from: Finale Fireworker
I dunno, man, I'm 27 and it hurts my knees to climb stairs.

Quote from: Finale Fireworker
I was 24 and managing a movie theater. There was a girl there who I was really attracted to, and she was very nice to me, and I thought I could leverage that into a date. We were definitely friends, but I wanted to be more than friends, so I started manipulating the schedule to give us more time together.

I would schedule the two of us to work the same nights. I would send other people home so it was just the two of us. I would keep her late so we could talk alone in the office. I don't know if she ever expected anything. I think, to her, we were just good work friends. I started to get frustrated that nothing was happening.

So I started physically putting myself close to her more often. I would follow her around. I would lean against her. I would intentionally try to pass by her and put my hands on her as I did. Finally, one time, I followed her into a small stock room. I stood in the doorway and watched her and knew she wouldn't be able to leave the room without squeezing by me or asking me to move. I wanted her to touch me. So I intentionally blocked her exit.

Real talk though, this could actually be interesting. It's an ARPG by former core members of Team Bloodlust, the studio behind Blade & Soul, and if there were two things B&S excelled at, it were art direction and combat. Having that team back together and working on a single player non-F2P game could be great.

PS4 controller is the worst controller I’ve ever owned. The ps2 mad catz controller I had was better. Sony sucks with controllers in general. My ps3 controller currently has a bunch of sticky shit on the analog sticks. Dual shock 2 was fine for the time.

Worst controller you've ever owned? :heh

The dpad is alright, the build quality is fine, I like the XB1 controller's triggers better though.
It's totally fine, only the battery life sucks :trumps

The JoyCon on the other hand, that shit was built for 5 year olds.

Worst controller still the N64, and nothing has come close.

Dreamcast, PS3/4, N64 are all top contenders for hottest trash controllers. Jaguar is the real "winner" but no one other than me and a few other dopes had that thing.

I prefer n64 and Dreamcast to DualShock 4.

Low battery life, forced light, short ass cable, shit stopped working. Literally the first official controller I’ve ever owned that just went and died. My genesis controllers from Christmas 92 still work. PS4 is that pathetic. And now I gotta get a new controller and it’s 60 bucks. Need a new Hori FPS Plus.

Xbox DUKE > all

(I liked the N64 controller, granted I was a PC master race guy and only played games like Turok and Quake on N64 (Goldeneye SUCKED))

I'm just glad Sony finally increased the size of their controllers, their old ones were way too small for my hands.

Xbox s or 360 might be my favorite all around 3d controller.

Xbox s was so good.

Mouse and keyboard bro;  I was all in on shooters / 3d games then so really only the N64 interested me.

Why waste your time with N64 shooters when you had the chance to play the best version of Hexen? :jeanluc

When I was a kid, there was this device called the Activator that Sega distributed.  It was meant to be used for fighting games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, but the concept and tech was so rudimentary that it required the player to unnecessarily pretend and suspend disbelief by mimicking the fighting moves; the novelty of that wore off almost immediately, as you can imagine.  There was some sensor at the edge of a box that you stood in, and if your limb crossed it, it would activated a button press - so all you would do is just throw your stupid ass arm across the censor to throw out a kick, punch, jump, etc.

My parents bought me a game like once a year, and if I could scrounge up enough money, I'd spend it on either buying games or renting them.  Needless to say, if I owned a game, I'd have to play it a million times and savor it.  Anyway, some of the most fun I'd had growing up was trying to beat games using The Activator with friends that we'd played and beat a hundred times using conventional controllers.  I vividly remember laughing my ass off and having tons of fun for hours playing the Road Rash games and Sonic Spinball on The Activator with all my buddies.

I think the concept of those frustratingly-fun physics games like QWOP, Getting Over It, OctoDad, etc tapped into that sort of thing.  Maybe even Nights with that big stupid controller.  There's something really fun about taking some cumbersome, hard to control shit and mastering it.

I think I have an older one (?)(it came with a USB dongle for PC use) but the shoulder buttons and triggers are just fine.  The dpad is shit and I assume the newer models are the same, but that's fine since I don't use the Xbone controller for the d-pad.

The PS4 controller is more versatile to me and works better with all genres, but the Xbone controller is definitely more comfortable and I prefer to use it for PC gaming.  In fact I don't think I've ever even once thought about using a DS4 for PC games.

Joycons are pretty good, I like the split controller form factor. :idont

Having said that, I mostly just use a wired 360 pad on PC, because wired + cheap + ez compat

In fact I don't think I've ever even once thought about using a DS4 for PC games.

Using DS4 on a PC lets you turn the fucking light off on it at least  :snob

the old controlelrs, the piece of plastic around the XBAWKS logo is a seperate piece to the 'main' controller, its the same mold as the 'main' controller on newer ones

I'm confused at Blur < Oasis as a topic title because 1. Who thinks Blur is better than Oasis?

Me, on total discography. Oasis had a big debut, pretty good second album, then went full stadium wank.
Blur were pretty consistently good but not great.
