Guess this answers the question of whether the mods would improve with SweetNicole gone.

Sweet Nicole was one of the better ones!

I'll never understand why the bire hate machine chewed Sweet Sweet Nikole out.

Omar doesn’t deserve the death threats  but I’m not exactly surprised that dismissive attitude has not make her popular. Pointing this out should not be controversial compared with Trump trying to get her killed.

Its pretty fucking short sighted to take a stance of attacking people you don't feel are doing enough to help your specific cause, rather than be against the people that you know for an absolute fact don't give a fuck about any of your causes

These stances are not mutually exclusive. You’re creating a false dichotomy with this either/or stance. You sound suspiciously like Kirblar tbh. It’s perfectly reasonable to voice disappointment in the silence from Dem leadership while despising everything Trump and the GOP stands for.

yeah, describing 9/11 as "some people did something" is a shockingly poor descriptor from a professional politician referring to an event that is still very much part of the american psyche.
Like, I am not surprised at all that Pelosi condemned Trumps tweets on the grounds that she did without simultaneously offering a ringing endorsement for how Omar characterised a terrorist attack in about the most weaselly worded way possible.

Well, it can mean that. It certainly doesn’t have to though and I would agree that this is neither the appropriate or most effective response. However, jumping to extreme examples such as this and creating false dichotomies stinks of the “shhh don’t speak to the pure impotence and backstepping of the Democratic Party” attitude that ensures the party will continue to be paper thin and fold to any pressure on a topic which doesn’t have mountains of public opinion polls they can point to in order to justify their positions. I mean, you can’t tell me Democratic leadership i.e Pelosi and Schumer don’t appear completely spineless atm.

Edit: for the record, I agree that Omar’s “somebody did something” comment was I’ll concieved and probably incredibly offensive to anyone who suffered in the aftermath of 911 but that doesn’t mean the leaders of her own party cannot so much as utter her name when the POTUS jumps on social media to slander her with propaganda level memes.

Being honest, I just don’t see Omar style politicians being much better given that is clear that they cannot play ball as a team. And, for all her faults, Pelosi seems to be a extremely competent politician.

I don’t exactly disagree with you that the old guard of your party are also guilty in make them look spineless but, in the context of RE and other social media communities, the extreme rhetoric has not been uncommon.

Also, I m at outlier from the Omar stuff, most people in the political thread seems to really like to defend her (and without going full RE).

The full speech was more like "some people did something that was going to fuck all Muslims over so CAIR had to beef itself up in the aftermath to protect the community". I don't think the intention was to just brush it off as some little thing that happened, the rest of the context to what she was talking about was the impact it had on the entire Muslim community.

Trump's offended response being to post 9/11 destruction porn is pretty fucking bizarre.

I agree that I really doubt she wanted to brush it off but still comes as extremely dismissive.

Also, Trump response looks like something that’s Chris-Chan would do.

I mean, maybe in private conversation with friends, it goes without saying that muslims aren't terrorists, and terrorist attacks under that flag are by people most muslims would not even consider to actually be muslims, but in a public speaking engagement there is no such thing as "it goes without saying", and its not like throwing in a line about the good work that they do defending the rights of muslims in america and proselytising the benefits of the muslim belief system at a time when it is under attack by external forces - like white supremacists - as well as internal forces such as extremists in ISIS and throwing in that necessary distance would have hurt the message or the delivery.

I kind of disagree. The “goes without saying” should be the standard at this point on time. While not dismissing the 9/11, there has not been exactly “right time to wait” to push this since 9/11.

I don't think politicians should ever have a "it goes without saying" speech when publicly discussing an ideology; they should always take a moment to distance themselves from and condemn the extremists of an ideology and make it clear that they aren't the gatekeepers of that ideology and do not represent what it means to most people.

e: well, you know, normal politicians. Not ideologues who actually do believe in extremism.

Considering 3,000 Americans died in Puerto Rico and the world by and large hasn’t given a fuck, I’m kind of laughing at people who the treat 9/11 as being so sacrosanct that you can’t refer to it informally while trying to make a larger point.

Because somebody already got arrested for making death threats against Ilhan Omar.

Quote
ELMIRA, N.Y. – A New York man is in custody after federal authorities say he threatened to kill freshman Congresswoman Rep. Ilhan Omar.

Patrick W. Carlineo, 55, of Addison, was arrested Friday morning and charged by criminal complaint with threatening to assault and murder Omar, a Democrat representing Minnesota.

On March 21, a staff member in Omar's office received a phone call around 12:20 p.m., the criminal complaint states. During the call, an individual, eventually identified as Carlineo, allegedly said to the staff member, "Do you work for the Muslim Brotherhood? Why are you working for her, she's an (expletive) terrorist. I’ll put a bullet in her (expletive) skull."

The concept of seeing yourself in a videogame protag always seemed incredibly dumb to me. I want cool looking shit that's as far away from myself as it can get. That's why I hate character creators - you will always get dumb or generic results, developers should put in some work to make interesting and unique characters. And tbf that new SW game looks generic as shit, but that isn't a problem that needs to be part of yet another identity-political rage fest.

Just saw that the SweetNicole thread barely reached 8 pages.  :neogaf

Why is the bore not celebrating ? SweetNicole must be in tears and we should bath in them. Imagining spending that much time "managing" a community, going into Stalin-mode thinking you're building a better world and a safe place, only for people to hate you in silence. Yeah dumboy, nobody likes you, not even in the community you built. You can't force love.

Immediate bashing on the protagonist because he's white, which immediately makes him "generic". Like come on now.
uh huh

the real order 66 is white genocide

That's definitely more important to me than finally matching the gameplay content from the 2004 original.

I don't know, making it right by developing a game that people want to play.

Only Rockstar Game's white male protagonists don't get the "generic white male" criticism, well actually Arthur did in the early trailers

Wait these criticisms are not satire? i thought i was reading a bunch of people being satirical

:salute

The trailer or the design of the character hardly blew me away but these people are so full of shit for implying that a bland looking game would suddenly be amazing if you make the main character black

must be hard to post reactions, on one hand fuck epic games, on the other fuck EA and frostbyte.

I would do the button guy pic, but I can't be bothered so deal with it.

Sure, there's a white male lead. Is no one paying attention to the obviously important black female character shown?

Quote
Uh.. yes? I guess? Padawans are a bunch of white kids, so being a white kid in a game where you're a padawan makes sense

Did you miss the part where I said given the choice I'd rather have a non white or non-male character? I just think there are better things to complain about than their casting choice

Well, yeah? He's also young, every western AAA game has a 40 year old dude with an ugly saggy face and a beard. It's nice to see a attractive male lead for once.

It is disappointing we don't get a customizable protagonist.

I tried to be Benji and give you a summary of dumb shit, but it's a Saturday and I only waste company time

Summary is basically FUCKING WHITE MALE REEEE

I dunno. Playing Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines 1 right now, the character generation being so... basic... is annoying. Like, I'm a blood-mage (the banned magic type), but somehow I look like I'm going to "a Night at the Roxbury":

The female Tremere can twirl her skirts like a Dervish. Sort of. It is mildly whimsical.

That is all.

Personally, I'm most looking forward to The Fallen Order getting ripped to shreds in reviews for easy mode button mashy press a to awesome gameplay by all the same galaxy brain games journalists currently writing opinion pieces about sekiros inaccessibility, and the swathe of What Star Wars Can Learn From Sekiro articles about how the mix of sword combat and ranged combat is so perfect in sekiro that star wars games should copy that
