I mean apart from the star wars prequels you never really saw the nerdy and unclean in cinemas for kids media before.

Now you look and it's a weird fucking place to go see a film, as you just see disgusting creatures occupying over one seat sitting there with the largest soda and popcorn possible.

Plenty of straight out kid's movies are great, from Ghibli to E.T.; the mocking is about some specific attitudes surrounding them.

Not expecting kids in the audience is one such thing.

Robocop is a kids movie. 
I watched it as a kid, as did all my friends back in the day (and i did have the action figure).

Some of the corporate satire flew over my head, but the violence was just an absolute joy to witness.

Elle and Blackbook are Verhoeven movies aimed at adults, thank you very much.

I mean I make fun of comic-book fans but the movies aren't "kids movies";  MCU starts off with a movie about an irresponsible weapons dealer coming to grips with what he's done to the world.  The rest of the films aren't lacking in somewhat interesting / adult themes as well.

They are still based on something made for kids/teens and we can all point and laugh at adults dedicating their lives to being fans of these films and praying for billions to be made off of them but they aren't "kids movies."

The comics aren't made for kids either.  They've been targeting older readers since the 60s and have done spin-off kids' comics/cartoons/brands since that time.

Still fun to laugh at man-children as always.
