Also the fact that the thread was """""derailed""""" on page 1 because the article is about how peoples shitty behaviour on the internet absolutely wrecked this innocent girls life, and how it had affected her, but all the assholes who had contributed to doing that in their own small ways jumped in to make it about them, and how they were totes justified in acting how they did, making the topic about them.

Which then leads to 'No you fucking weren't. You fucking dick. And the fact you aren't even sorry means you're going to do it again to someone else. you fucking dick. And you're not just a fucking dick poster, you're a fucking dick moderator, and you abuse your powers to continue to be a fucking dick. You fucking dick.'

I've been falsely banned twice for "downplaying hate speech", despite having done no such thing.
USER BANNED (THE HEAT DEATH OF THE UNIVERSE): MISREPRESENTING MODERATOR ACTIONINGS, HISTORY OF HISTORY, DOWNPLAYING HATE SPEECH AND INSTITUTIONAL RACISM, TRANSPHOBIA

Jebusman pulls the receipts on another forumer, something which is against the rules and many people have been banned for in the past

And almost certainly did so using the terrible horrible banbot site, hosted on a hate site

And the guy who was annoyed at someone coming at him aggressively like that is the one who got banned

By Royalan, who then immediately closed the thread as ointment for his inflamed ass cheeks

Quote
I still scratch my head at Bernie’s tax hiding. He’s one of the least wealthy senators. As far as I can tell his money is on the up and up and all he did was create a pointless aura of suspicion in the pursuit of a “keeping it real” vision of being an everyday guy?

Is his socialist base that militant that they don’t even want a guy on the inside unless he eschews capitalism completely?

I never for one second thought that Bernie’s tax hiding was obscuring moderate riches- I probably would have guessed that net worth six months ago.

Anyway he needs to dismiss this but it’s a self inflicted wound if that’s all there was to it. I thought it was going to be insider trading or Russian business ties or some weird bullshit.

Ironically I’m probably one of the few people considering Bernie as a candidate who’s happy about his “wealth “* unless there’s more we don’t know about. Unless he wins the primary the gop won’t drop any oppo on him. The other Dems might before the votes are tallied - but they’ve almost all signed a pledge to support the winner.

* I fully understand that two million dollars is rich as fuck for most Americans but relatively speaking - compared to the senate- he’s the scruffy cheapskate Everyman he is positioned as.
Quote
Bernie wouldn’t release his taxes and it was extremely weird and then when he did, it was all fine (except apparently for this politico writer) . Was he trying to protect some faulty vision of who he was?

I don’t know a single Bernie fan who needed or expected him to be broke.

What did you think I was talking about?
Quote
Well I can’t get the original cached tweet wording to load but I’d say that if you’re writing in this climate about a Jewish guy and money that you and several editors should at least be sensitive to that. In a way it’s like using the “just the circle game” defense or “Pepe is funny and I’m not racist “ approach- sure those things may sometimes be true but if you understand the current context then you should expect this kind of reaction and adjust your angle accordingly. It’s also not news- Bernie’s wealth has been extant and refreshed for some time so it’s an editorial that also serves little purpose and that exacerbates how problematic it is in this context.

If they had new information about hypocrisy or insider trading or whatever then sure.

The fact that they redacted and replaced the tweet means they recognized it too.
Quote
Um. No. You came up with this angle all on your own I’m afraid. I repeated my bafflement at Bernie’s prior years of tax and holdings obfuscation (which is a real thing that happened) because the topic of the thread was a ridiculous politico hot take on the exact same subject which was a nothingburger as it turned out.

I just read a column that posited sort of convincingly that Bernie didn’t show his taxes because

A) he’s ornery
B) he didn’t have a tax attorney to actually do the paperwork for him

But he’s been inconsistent or vague on it for years. The reason it became a focus and a political liability in this period was the very valid and serious issues with Trump. It became a bad look and Bernie was combative about it in interviews. In retrospect it is possible he’s just that grumpy but there’s nothing controversial or unusual about citing the political appearance of it up to their release. Especially in the climate we’re in.
Quote
Can you stop suggesting that I’m defending or supporting politico’s shitty dog whistle please? Or that Bernie’s taxes are irrelevant to the topic?

I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you just misunderstood my post, but if not you may as well just call me an anti Semite. You’re selectively quoting things you think support that and ignoring things that plainly state the opposite and I really don’t appreciate the inference.

To be extremely clear to anyone reading this derailing spat who thinks that I somehow came up with the idea that Bernie was weird and evasive about releasing his taxes myself then there are literally dozens of articles discussing the exact same thing from allies and enemies alike for years.

The fact that he released them on tax day is irrelevant to the prior news cycle about it that has been discussed on and off since 2015. You may as well say he didn’t reveal his age till his birthday. He had many opportunities to release his taxes prior to now and not only didn’t, but was combative about it. I read about it in the news same as you and wondered why. In this thread I repeated my surprise that his taxes were fine and that he created a completely pointless drag on his message because his taxes are fine. And he’s still one of the less wealthy senators.

His potential opponent in 2020 has made a giant issue out of not releasing his taxes. It’s a real thing. Bernie could have ended that discussion in 2015 and didn’t until 2019. Now he has.I had multiple conversations about the exact same issue in 2016 and at the time one theory was that his wife had healthcare investments that would have looked hypocritical. That wasn’t true either.

I hope this is clear to you now. But I am extremely irritated at the inference and the refusal to acknowledge that Bernie had a campaign tax release issue before now. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills here.
Quote
Yes. And it’s accompanied initially by a problematic headline, and imagery and even in the most generous framing possible- written and edited by multiple political journalism professionals who’re exquisitely aware of both anti Semitic political climate, dog whistle language and nuanced and not so nuanced context- and yet it still got published and sat there until readers complained at which point they adjusted the phrasing but left the article as is - despite the fact it contains no new information or insight and serves only to reinforce a particular stereotype.

It’s as I said earlier, like defending the circle game and Pepe as “harmless kid stuff and it’s not my fault the nazis are using it” as if you had no alternative but to use them, despite realizing how it would look.

The article itself is either deliberately dog whistling or (generously speaking) accidentally dog whistling- but given that it has no other value as a piece of journalism, tweaking the headline kinda misses the point. Just delete it and own that you fucked up. It’s just sitting there now like a shit in a swimming pool drawing attention to itself and marring the other 99.999% of the pool.
Quote
Here’s a reminder of the absolutely insane fact that Congress is effectively allowed to participate in insider trading:

Obama changed the rules and it forced them to disclose and publish any trades online - but of course they found a rare moment of bipartisanship and changed it again. While the rule was briefly enacted congressional trading plummeted by 50%. Which effectively showed the percentage of trades that would have looked too obvious and despicable to the general public.

So if you’re a member of Congress you’d have to actively CHOOSE to lose money on say an Internet stock you knew you were about to undermine with an FCC vote in a couple of weeks, likely before the press had any feel for the vote.

There’s a few tricky rules about family members and so on but the government is allowed to participate in trades that would send CEOs to jail.

But then this is a body that voted to give itself a fantastic government paid healthcare plan. And votes against giving it to you.

Of course they’re wealthy. It would require some effort to BE broke in that sense.

Look, I admit I don't really spend all that much time here, I'm not much of a regular, etc. But part of the reason for that was that I'd found a place where people were legitimately kind and caring and I'd settled in super happily. A few days ago, that place. . .died.

Someone dear to us ended up passing away, and we ended up spending the better part of a day mourning with most of us in emotional shock. Except. . .that wasn't what happened. After a couple of days it turned out that they had actually faked their own death for attention, and needless to say we were all furious. But then. . .it got even worse. It turns out that they'd forced some of the other people there into participating in erotic roleplay with them. YOUNG people. Young, socially awkward people that were emotionally vulnerable. They'd held at least two other identities, and participated in several other emotionally manipulative stunts with said identities. I consoled this person in supposed dark times, I thought I'd saved this person from the bring of suicide. But compared to what they did to everyone else that means nothing to me. It was at this point that I informed ResetERA staff of what was going on in the hopes that they could ensure that this person wasn't hiding behind any other identities, and pointed them in the direction of an administrator that I trusted.

Or. . .that I thought I trusted.

A day later, as nearly the entire former community evacuates for greener pastures and I'm left staring at an empty husk of the place I used to know, I've found out that an entirely different terrible situation was going on. This administrator turns out to have been engaging in a distended power trip. They had almost complete control over who was chosen as new moderation staff, and exclusively selected individuals that were part of their personal friend group. They enacted harsher moderation on individuals that questioned their authority. They're a Boogie-type "centrist." And most ludicrous at all, they had intense envy issues with a newer administrator that resulted in stunts up to and including changing thread titles that the newer administrator had made, giving themselves a custom banner the day after the new administrator was appointed, and making excuses not to work on a Q&A with this newer administrator even though they happily found the means to do so for everyone else. And now that newer administrator has been demoted.

All this, and they're in a clique with multiple other administrators that enable them.

I'm absolutely crushed at this point, and I have no idea what to do. The former person has been IP banned, purged from every Discord that can be warned. But the latter person still has their position with no consequences whatsoever. I'm struggling with how in the world to do anything that would even resemble fixing the situation. I've been pushing for change behind the scenes with some moderators that are still trustworthy, but what can they do compared to administrators? Do I call the administrator in question out publicly somehow? Would that be too much? The child predator that kicked this all off doesn't have any Era accounts from what I can tell, but the corrupt administrator DOES. Mostly unused, but it exists. But. . .

. . .I just don't know. I've been so lost through all this.

Consider those Mortal Kombat costumes that remain the subject of a months-long tire fire from conservative gamers: these characters are still being sexualized, except not exclusively for the tacky dated Hooters Boomer gaze this time. They're simply broadening their audience, for both males who can't take ninja stripper outfits seriously as well as getting more women in. If MK games sold in the hundreds of thousands instead of the millions, the better bet would be to quadruple down on the latex fetish look to guarantee buys from thirsty shut-ins.

Definitely. My posts so far mostly downplay how much actual buying power these people have, but in terms of their presence in the gaming community and what gamers look like to the public at large right now, they really do have a disproportionately loud voice.

They definitely own Reddit and YouTube.

But this isn't the first time a few million obsessive and loud weirdos proved to be entirely out of sync with how the other hundreds of millions actually consume a medium.

I'm just going off the number of views these types of videos can pull in. And a lot of these people are new converts. We can thank youtube for going with "long videos watched in their entirety = good and worth pushing other users to try out" for this phenomenon. Absolute shut in freaks willing to watch 3 hour anime tiddy rants and 6 hour Sandy Hook truther exposes have had their tastes projected onto the world at large in this way.

radical thought, maybe the quality of a product and its appeal to society at large is ultimately responsible for consumer entertainments success or failure, and the only people that actually give a shit about their stupid fucking identity politics culture war are mostly irrelevant on both sides?

And those manbabies will still go see things like Captain Marvel so shrug

But I thought ghostbusters flopped because of all the whiny manbabies?
So is it a tiny amount of whiny manbabies that can't effect performance, or is it a huge amount of whiny manbabies that can and are to blame?

They're quick in that thread to say "um TLJ was extremely successful" but don't recognize that it was the beginning of the end in terms of scaling back tons of multimillion dollar movie/TV show/franchise plans, Rian lost his trilogy, Solo underperformed after the dissatisfaction with TLJ

And they also refuse to recognize that a big reason TLJ was successful anyway was on the backs of pathetic manchildren who will see anything Star Wars related, the same sort of people that get heavily involved in youtube/reddit/gamergate

Being fair, people are still pretending that Rian trilogy is totally going to happen.

Took awhile to wrap my head around the fact that what's presented as a crisis is just some message board drama.

In regards to the story I know ResetERA is pretty progressive so I figured I'd warn the staff here about the pedophile.

So there's a new mod then.

actually, the way they're trying to disprove the theory would be incorrect, they're assuming that everyone offended knew beforehand like themselves, rather than went to see The Last Jedi and were angry that a black man was in their movie so they won't get conned again by seeing anymore Stars War, same for when they booted up Battlefield V and saw the woman and immediately ejected the disc and smashed it like they do abortion rights

it's only in very rare instances will the populace writ large know about something to that extent and thus refuse to consume at all, like how they refused to see Justice League because it wasn't The Snyder Cut

Last Jedi = sUbVeRtInG eXpEcTaTiOnS --> good.
GoT 8x05 = sUbVeRtInG eXpEcTaTiOnS --> bad.

(flipsubvert that for 4chan's version).

JS, I have been doing this for well over a decade and I am so relieved to know I am not the only one!! You can also reshape a big poop so that it doesn't hurt coming out.

Thank you, that link led me eventually to r/sounding where I saw a video of a woman's toe being stuck inside a man's pee hole and the dude pulled his cock off the toe and cummed at the same time. I threw my phone and ran screaming out of the room  :gddr5

Good times

I felt like sharing sharing this story so I am crossposting an older thread I made from GAF a long time ago.
