Flat Earthers believe in the concept enough that they will hold a global convention on the concept. 

I'm convinced they're all just LARPing and it's all for socialization rather than a sincerely held belief that the earth is flat. Sure, they believe that the NWO is hiding something, but "flat earth" is just a symbol of that conspiracy rather than a real thing that exists. Then they all get together and hash out ways to prove this thing that doesn't exist DOES exist, knowing it can never be proven which means next year they'll all get together again. It gives them security and purpose and social connection.

I mean... like I say, that doc I mentioned shows a chunk of people who seem sincere in their beliefs, and some of them actually (somewhat admirably but misguidedly) using the scientific method to attempt to prove their hypothesis

Watching that Doc is what convinced me, these otherwise intelligent people have a blind spot for, of all things... the earth being flat? No way. They know, deep down in their heart of hearts, that it's not... its just that without the flat earth conspiracy they have and are nothing. This makes them special and everyone likes being special.
