I really hate the argument of "leaks can hurt devs and jobs" & "loose lips sinks stock prices" as a sledgehammer argument. Not because it's inherently
false but at this rate everything potentially can hurt a dev (or any private company in any sector really) : from bad reviews to me not buying games or even deciding to buy game A over game B.
There's one guy in the thread that also go "Curious how you claim to love games but are deaf to game makers complaints" as if that wasn't the norm across the board to care for the art/product while being mostly oblivious about how it was made, especially on collective works and
especially in a globalised economy.
It's been really consistent how those "emotional blackmail" arguments seems to pop up constantly in ERA across the board no matter the topic. I can't help but notice how words like "hurt", "pain", "damage", "harm" get so frequent even when discussing something that is so relatively harmless as spoiling a marketing event half a day in advance (if that). That Sabi guy post on ERA for instance has sentences like "not harming people who don't want to be spoiled", "I want to be considerate of people like you"...
