A few years ago I was between jobs and took an entry level position to make money while I was sending out resumes.

Most people ate lunch in the break room but one day I didn't bring food and this girl from my training class didn't either and said she was going to taco bell. So I joined her.

People saw us leave together and come back together and the rumors started flying.

It was shitty because she was barely 18 and I was 6 years older. Also, we were both in serious relationships.

Had I gone to lunch with a dude, no one would have said anything. The double standards are atrocious.

If I was a manager and done the same, then the rumors would have been used against me.

So yeah, as a manager I treat women differently than men because of office politics. Not so much because I think my subordinate will lobby false accusations, but because of what others will say.
