We all knew it was coming. Man children fuming and yelling at children on the Disneyland Star Wars ride.
https://www.resetera.com/threads/millenium-falcon-smugglers-run-is-kinda-meh-a-ride-review.127538/

Quote from: Shigs
As I said, that I went on it four times (once as gunner and THREE TIMES as engineer), but it can be a lot better. There are seveal problems that can take away your enjoyment of this ride. This leads to less fun than it can be and sometimes yelling at complete strangers to hurry and press those buttons. It's the most boring task and sadly, is the one I had to do three times. It makes it so I'm actually jealous of two other people on the ride who are having more fun than me.

I just think anyone who cares so much about flying the actual Falcon is going to be the most offput and disappointed by the concessions they made by adapting it to a ride. The people who are familiar with the ship are going to be suffering from cognitive dissonance the whole time

They've always been selective about who they ban for doxxing

yeah, a founding rule of era: everyone is special, but some posters are more special than the others

muteki is one of those extra special posters

the setup is about haves and have-nots, in other words, dare I say, privilege

for the third panel to be anything equivalent to the first two, the guy would have to be saying "this auto manufacturer is a horrible company responsible for thousands of preventable deaths and no one should support them" which would make the hypocrisy a valid criticism, he bought one anyway because he has money to burn and values convenience over supporting his own message

for the fourth panel to make any sense it would have to be a king saying "some kingdoms mistreat their serfs so badly, it's heartbreaking" speaking from a position of someone who has the power to begin changing things and doesn't

Ugh I'm visiting my Italian family right now and while they are left leaning, the amount of trash tv they consume is mindboggling. The tv plays at lunch where we watch court room reality shows intermixed with gossip, then dinner we watch either an italian funniest home videos or a show called ciao darwin where its always team A vs team B. Today it was body/hedonism vs spirituality. All the while naked ladies are put center stage while guys act like idiots. Today they literally had a food grossout challenge where all the food was from Asia or Africa, and the "waiters" presenting the Chinese and Thai dishes were the same guys just with different names.

Sometimes there's dance shows, where my family usually calls any male dancers froci or finocchi in a "funny" way (italian slurs for gay people) and acts scandalized if a person has a tattoo or is in anyway open about their non-normative sexuality. And these are the good days. God forbid we stumble upon a politics talk show where immigrants or muslims are involved, that is usually given the response "don't they have their own homes?". I love them so much, but God, Italy is toxic as hell and only getting worse.

The sad thing is that they watch so much tv because my cousin has a mental disability and likes to have the tv on at all times, bless her, she just likes to hear and see the noise and doesn't actually pay attention to the content.

Sounds rad.

Ciao Darwin was peak trash TV, i loved it as a kid, but i didn't know they were still doing it.
If you wanted to watch the Italian equivalent of a toothless redneck and a plastic bimbo humiliate themselves on TV, that was it.
Also a lot of tits, but that was par for the course for most Euro (or southern Euro anyway) TV at the time.

His family doesn't really sound all that left leaning though.

I mean, it seems like an accident (we're talking about animal characters with fur and all that, assuming it maps 1:1 to skin colour is already a bit of a reach, though not uncommon.), that's more of an excuse than it being US specific (I think any European with some Internet savvy would have been made aware by now. It's like the fried chicken thing, you've heard of it but maybe I'm wrong.).

This thread is motivated by concerns surrounding an extremely pervasive and historic racist stereotype.

Regardless of your local or individual experience with this stereotype, it is offensive and degrading to black-skinned people all around the world. It is not just an American issue. Lack of awareness in cultures without major black populations does not mean it isn’t a degrading and racist caricature that is insulting to the people it mocks. The history of this stereotype can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watermelon_stereotype

Whether this character skin was intended to have this connotation or it was simply an unfortunate accident doesn’t dictate the validity of people’s concerns. If this is your first time hearing about this stereotype, please be respectful and observant to the fact that this sort of imagery has been used to harm darker-skinned populations for over a century.

I just checked in-game and the actual model has not a darker skin/fur than the base skin. It changes from yellow-orange to yellow-reddish. I have no idea what is up with the icon tho, that is just wrong and also does not represent the actual model.

Yeah, this whole thread is very telling of era as a whole. Any other topic than being prejudiced against the police and it would have been ban-city.

I guess my question for those people is this: at what point does your generalization of an entire group of other people become SO overbearing that YOU are now the one downplaying another groups suffering, just as you criticize others for? I dont care if it's the police or military (both institutions o hate and fear). We have no right to generalize PEOPLE on any level.

I am afraid we will eventually reach a tipping point in this current society, and the eventuality isnt too far off. We should all know better at this point than to think we know who everyone in a group is or what they think and feel. It's just as prejudiced as racism. Its assuming you know something about someone personally because of something superficial about them and it's disgusting, no matter who does it.

It's interesting enough for me to give it a try, and if developers really can utilize the processing power of an entire server farm when developing their games it could lead to some interesting innovation.

That is what I want to see from cloud streaming processing. Show me something that just can’t be run locally on consumer hardware. Like give me a GTA where every npc is unique, has a schedule, has AI that remembers you, follows their own life simulations (food, water, entertainment etc), in a city that has full interiors you can enter, buildings can be destroyed based on actual structural engineering stress points (like red faction guerrila x10000), AI directors alter the missions / storyline on the fly based on your actions / friendships / rampages. Basically something that would run at like .5fps being processed locally on 1 piece of hardware.

Instead were being shown shit that is already better run locally and couldn’t even stand up to arcade hardware from 1984 if measured by button press to pixel moves timing. This awesome streaming future can’t currently even play a game of donkey kong properly...... oh boy can’t wait!

The other advantage is obviously the ubiquity of Chrome, being able to play the same game on phone/tv/laptop seamlessly sounds super cool. Being able to do multiplayer with one person on the laptop and the other on the TV sounds super cool too. I just don't know if that alone is worth having no physical access to the game. Hell, I still buy most of my games on disc or cart for god's sake I'm a luddite.

I'm really interested in Stadia because of this.

The only people that like Star Wars are manchildren. Kids couldn't give less of a fuck. Blame Marvel for that.

+ Going to Disneyland/World after the age of 10. Only families go to that shit, and guess what: 20-30 year olds aren't having children because 60+ year olds royally fucked them in the ass in terms of life.

Maybe when Disney isn't fucking $300+ for a day ticket, people will be interested.
Even at the discount I get ($257+tax) for 5 days it feels crazy expensive. Normal retail is just absurd.

I have this theory about Joseph, Mary, Jesus and the whole immaculate conception/son of God thing. Basically Mary's family did not like Joseph's family or him at all. Joseph knocked up a 11/12 year old Mary. In order to save him, her, or both from being killed or ostracized for this, they concocted this story about god choosing her to carry the son of god. To make things worse they put this lie onto their child making him think he was special in a otherworldly way. Jesus was a product of bad parents.
