should be funny to watch era celebrate prematurely and then pull faces in horror when they realize the site will most likely be fine

Hope not. Bunch a scumbags.

A mass shooting in the city where my mother is having her vacations and shopping (“we wanted to go to that Walmart earlier) kind of change my sentiments for a site that doesn’t even want to bother doing minimal effort (and user cheering it).

All this (understandable) focus on 8chan is allowing Youtube, Twitter, and Reddit to get off without consequences. These social media sites are where young white men are radicalized. 8chan is where they end up after they've already been consuming a steady diet of white supremacy from Crowder and Watson and their ilk on mainstream social platforms.

What is the 'minimal effort'? They moderate and ban illegal activity. That to me does seem like the minimal effort. They literally cannot stop someone from coming on and posting their manifesto and intent to go on a killing spree. They co-operate with law enforcement and produce a monthly transparency report which tells the users how many DMCA and law enforcement requests they fulfilled.

imagine thinking 4chan is too restrictive

The 'wild west' of the internet not allowing people to talk about gamergate is pretty pathetic, and if not for that, 8chan would still be audience to a only few dozen people.

Come on, I didn’t believe that BS even when it was just 4chan.

Hotwheels hasn't been the owner of the site for years. The NZ massacre had nothing to do with it. Are you just regurgitating resetera talking points?

Please tell me how what I said is BS. The entire reason I like using 8chan is because who I am doesn't matter one bit. I don't have to worry about being banned if I go against the hivemind. Not being able to look up someones post history and derail the thread is the best part. The only thing that matters is what you posted in that single moment.

GG Lost the PR fight because the entire gaming and mainstream media colluded together to form a narrative that gamers are all violent misogynists. Journolist, gamejournopros, etc. Regular gamers who just wanted an ethical gaming press never had a chance.

I should be happy that the only post that matters in the moment  may as well be celebrating the possibility of killing Mexican people going shopping?

Regular gamers don’t visit KiA to read about how refugees are killing Europe or how Trump is totally fighting for free speech and not a opportunistic idiot.

So because some distinguished edgelords post on the site, it doesn't have a right to exist? For all we know, the people celebrating these atrocities are the same ones trying to get the site shut down. Are the people celebrating the shooting breaking the law?

Please understand that those people disgust me and I think the world would be better off without them. That said, I do not think 8chan should be removed from the internet just because some scumbags decide to go there and shit it up.

KiA is and was controlled opposition. I don't do reddit so not sure why you bring it up. I also don't see how refugees and Trump entered the conversation. This is about 8chan and its right to exist.

Doesn't japan have a very strict rating system?

Don't murder sims generally not sell that well in Japan?

True it's not the best example the Twitter guy could pick. At times are games even censored, like recently the resident evil 2 remake

Even entertaining the possibility that people celebrating the mass murders want the shit shut down is :cornette

Much less typing "Are the people celebrating the shooting breaking the law?" :busta

El Paso dude was expected by FBI because he literally spammed his manifesto before doing the deed.

At some point you have to recognize when the "wild west" of the internet becomes the last bastion for radicalized morons.

4chan's /pol/ hosts Nazi OTs, White Supremacy OTs, and Race Realism OTs. If that isn't extreme enough for you, godbless

Back during GG there were instances of blue checkmarks going on 8chan and making threads about harassing themselves, screenshotting it,  and being exposed due to them not knowing about IDs and (you) being displayed next to the post. Bad actors are absolutely a thing. How hard would it be for some reset poster to go on 8pol and post 'god bless the shooter, MAGA', screencap it, and then blast it out to their followers?

4chan has been made into a giant dad for a long time. If I want to read race realism threads, I'll go on gaf and follow JordanN.

I like that 8chan has very few global rules, which amount to 'don't break the law'.

i dunno, as long as you don't post something illegal you're fine on 4chan

only exception to that is /pol/ing on other boards, in which case fuck off

Oh, I didn't realize talking about gamergate was illegal.

I never said any of that. I also don't believe that the majority of those people posting terrible shit are likely to go out and kill people. They are basement dwellers, larpers, and edgelords.

My point is that if the site is breaking the law, then get it shut down by the FBI. Last I knew, the servers are in California. That's it.

Quote
bruh, Moot put up with GG for weeks until they started doxxing OTs and they started implementing organized action threads. It was his decision to kick it off his site in fear of legal action.

This is bullshit revisionist history. I was in the first GG threads on /v/. The majority of people were focused on corruption in games journalism, but then some dildo would come in and post 'lets harass zoe quinn!', to which everyone else would say 'fuck off!'. It got to the point were any mention of her would be met with 'literally who?'. It was bad actors who tried to make every thread about anita and quinn.

Moot tried to shutdown all discussion of GG because he was banging some chick from google and wanted in with the SocJus crowd.

Quote
Just go on the dark web if you want your freedoms of being a cunt among other cunts.

Just because I believe in the idea of 8chan, doesn't mean I am part of the worst shit on the site. There are thousands of boards and if you avoid the few most active ones, you can have great discussions without any hate, nazi's, mentions of trump, etc.

And it's (was) his right to do so: His server/site, his rules. You don't like it, you can make your own 4chan, as 8chan did. And guess what: They're getting possibly litigated up the ass soon, so: m00t was right after all?

Cloudflare, you're doing it wrong! You're not meant to mention this in your own blog post:

Quote
Almost exactly two years ago we made the determination to kick another disgusting site off Cloudflare's network: the Daily Stormer. That caused a brief interruption in the site's operations but they quickly came back online using a Cloudflare competitor. That competitor at the time promoted as a feature the fact that they didn't respond to legal process. Today, the Daily Stormer is still available and still disgusting. They have bragged that they have more readers than ever. They are no longer Cloudflare's problem, but they remain the Internet's problem.

 :lol
Well, I guess the reesettlers only read the headline anyway

I don't know about 8chan because i don't go there, but going off of 4chan (which is similar enough) its structure cuts both ways, so this ends up being almost complete bullshit anyway.
The amount of derail due to shitposting (ironic or otherwise) or /pol/posting or whatever, makes it almost impossible to have any meaningful conversation on anything but super niche boards (and even those get relatively flooded with bullshit comments), let alone big ones like /v/.
If you go there to shitpost on the latest drama or waste some time, it works fine, and on smaller/slower boards a sense of community can develop (though again, they're still tainted by constant flow of trash comments) - but let's not pretend any meaningful debate is taking place.
I'm all for free expression and i don't think they should nuke those places (as long as they operate within the law, yadda yadda) but they're nothing more than public toilet walls, in digital form.

even if you take that hypothesis as 100% provably true, it says something about era that you can't post a funny relevant video doing the rounds without accusations of badthink and a possible ban, insinuations about ulterior motives, calls for deplatforming, and ultimately a lock.

I'm all for free expression and i don't think they should nuke those places (as long as they operate within the law, yadda yadda) but they're nothing more than public toilet walls, in digital form.

listen the main thing is the Alexandria Library of hentai recently got its plug pulled and only managed to get back on its feet due to some quote "generous donations from certain imageboards"

but if it died again 8chan has its own thriving Library of Congress of hentai going
e-hentai is gone? e-hentai had a forum? :thinking

that's weird, it's like pornhub having a forum, why the fuck would you stick around after sticking your load in some sad times sock? :thinking

did you assume the speaker was male?  :gurl  popp sounds too much like a silenced gun sound. Would likely trigger some of the fellow comrades.

those comrades are in the quiet room on lvl 9, via the lift (comrades who are able will use the stairs)

Point of personal privilege please. Thetylerrob, he/him. Can we please stop using the word “triggered?” As you all know a trigger is a part of a gun and I think we can all agree that the only way to stop gun violence is by deplatforming guns.

Point of information., Can we get a progressive stack of posters... these he/hims are not truly representative.

My students knock on the table at the end of every lecture, which is a remnant of times when students used to have walking sticks as an accessory and used them to applaud.

Ancient academic traditions :aah

Are you sure they aren't making sure the evil spirits can't hear your teachings and prevent good tidings?

Maybe, I am also kinda bummed out that they don‘t shout “Vivat!“ anymore. :fbm

Tulsi and Assange combo is a good way to rile people up over there.

Maybe filler will answer this: What is her policy on posting workout vids of herself in yoga pants? I think there should be a law for doing that once a week. :drool

Hello ERA, wondering if anyone can give me some tips.

For as long as I can remember I wake up multiple times a night parched and needing a drink. I've kept water on my nightstand since childhood so I'd always have water to drink. In the past 12 months it's gotten so bad that have started taking two glasses of water to bed.

My sleep has been awful lately and the water thing is a big part of it. I went to see a doctor last week and ran some blood tests and everything came back perfectly normal and I don't have diabetes (theory 1). He prescribed me 2mg of Melatonin which has helped me wake me up in the morning feeling a little more refreshed, but I'm still waking up with the same frequency. I also got a new mattress over the weekend to see if that was a variable and that hasn't helped. To give insight into my situation (re: light, noise, disturbances, etc) this has occurred across all four places I've lived at in the past 6 years and happens regardless of whether or not I'm sharing a bed.

I'm not overweight, unfit or older and I don't have any symptoms of sleep apnea (struggling to breathe, waking up short of breath or snoring). I also consume a ton of water throughout the day and am well-hydrated regularly. I'm just a thirsty boy in the middle of the night.

My theory is that over the years I've conditioned myself to wake up and drink water, and therefore my body may think that's just how we do things. But, I have no idea how to stop this as I haaaaate waking up thirsty and going back to sleep thirsty is the worst.

Has anyone been in this situation who can help? What do you think I should do?
