Sure they never managed to make the buddy AI sneak properly but that's pretty much the only real flaw on a gameplay level, aside from some puzzles that lack the visual richness of the Uncharted setpieces.

The solution here about using the term "Birthing parent" would set a biological standard that I think most can get behind. The problem in the story in the OP isn't hung around the terms used, but on a person's want to move from one box on the page to another. If they were granted their wish it wouldn't solve the issue folks have. The problem here I think comes from the perception and use of birth certs. Some folks do not view it as a historical document and believe it should be updated to reflect a person's current situation. I don't think birth certificates should ever be amended post-fact except in cases of extreme error. Going back to your birth cert and changing your gender or name should not be a thing. But I believe this is an issue about how birth certs are used and for what reason. Birth certs should not reflect your currently chosen identity.

But I do like modding, or being able to find cool shit that isn't by one person (Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead). And I dont see that kind of community open source stuff ever appearing streaming. I mean they may allow some "diet" modding like steam workshop is, but will they let a user run an open source port of Doom, using brutal doom? Or a sims mod with a bunch of added drug use/dealing? Or a script extender dll file that hooks into the latest bland bethesda game to allow mods that actually make it worth playing?

I doubt they will. But I am content with being a niche of a niche nowadays I guess (like a car tuning gearhead but for computers).

The discussion around this film has collapsed into a defensive echo chamber. You cannot discuss the themes of the film and their relation to current society without eager fans claiming you are either inciting moral panic, trying to get the film banned, or ironically trying to will into existence mass shoootings- the latter claim completely contradicting this sudden idea that "media has no effect on people."

Furthermore this belief doesn't make sense in a community that often goes out of its way to champion minority inclusion, citing- well- the social benefits of seeing minorities in non-stereotypical roles in notable productions. I guess media only matters when it's convenient or you get a SpiderVerse out of the deal?

The language has been striking too- claims of an "agenda," "censorship," and "free speech" have fun afoot, and along with the general hostility to people's opposing thoughts and concerns this is not all that dissimilar to the Ghostbusters row and typical trashy apolitical gamer/Gamergate rhetoric. It's become extremely alarming how quickly the veneer of progressivism flew out the window over this one film.

And it's also confusing. Remember that ridiculous satirical film where Trump supporters were victims of a hunt got canned due to backlash and absolutely no one gave a fuck? I do.

So yeah, if nothing else, the left and the right have become a little blurred in this scenario. But it's largely not coming from the people criticizing the film.
