Man that Alucard dude is even shilling hard on Neogaf for a game streaming future, talk about being desperate.
I haven't seen someone shill so hard for something since like the ps2/dreamcast days on gaming-age. I wonder what his real angle is? Maybe a gaming pc fell on his dog or something? I mean if it takes off as mainstream. OK I guess? If its the only way to play gta 9 or something, fine, Ill miss the clarity/latency/and moddablity of local compute but whatever. But its just bizarre someone hyping up something that is akin to Netflix, or Disney+? I mean ....yeah you stream a game.... big deal? Should I shill for spotify like its something to be proud of/astroturf over?
I mean I almost want to dustoff my old gaf login to respond to his PR campaign (dont worry I didnt get that desperate). I have a feeling nothing I would say would be valid beyond "well I guess in your case mostly local gaming + some streaming exclusives here and there, will probably be ideal".
Like I primarily PC game and ironically I really don't give 2 shits about uber performance (graphically). Hell I am rocking an i5 2500k and a 970gtx in 2019 for crissakes. But I do like modding, or being able to find cool shit that isn't by one person (
Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead). And I dont see that kind of community open source stuff ever appearing streaming. I mean they may allow some "diet" modding like steam workshop is, but will they let a user run an open source port of Doom, using brutal doom? Or a sims mod with a bunch of added drug use/dealing? Or a script extender dll file that hooks into the latest bland bethesda game to allow mods that actually make it worth playing?
I doubt they will. But I am content with being a niche of a niche nowadays I guess (like a car tuning gearhead but for computers).
