It's always interesting how the people on ResetERA.com who get DEATH THREATS or "noticed by KiwiFarms" or whatever mundane thing they're sharing publicly with the forum are people with super specific usernames and even more specific identifying traits they plaster on every account. :hmm

This forum is ill equipped to protect marginalized members from both internal and external threats. This forum is easy to join and publicly viewable. It's naive to think that people harassing Xaszatm, or enabling others to, aren't members here. There is definitely a community problem because there are gators/altright people/sympathizers on here and it's easy for them to get in. I'm not saying there is anything you or the rest of the moderation team can do to punish people outside the forum, just acknowledging the bigger problems here.

Did a search for my username on Google and KF might have their eyes on me. Oh joy.

WTF
It's what we've been saying about ResetERA.com forever, it's not a safe space for the marginalized, look at all the women and minorities and systems leaving in droves constantly due to the endless hate. And the mods do nothing, saving their three month bans only for those who share conspiracy theories from hate groups like that Enzom21 has low melanin hands. They care about protecting minorities almost as little as they care about the Joker film.

So the thread is composed by people passive aggressively complaining about the game to people saying “eroticism do it right, totally vindicates me complaining about bad sexist character designs”.

Actually strikes me more as :expert the thread.

Well, it is in the sense that everyone there are closet perverts that cannot admit it regardless of side.

Quote
There's like 5 different fetishes in the design at a glance. Zettai ryōiki, thigh gap, short shorts, cleavage cut shirt, the socks/pants are so tight they squish the thighs. She's also got the "cute girl does cute things" bubbly personality from so many slice-of-life moe anime.

I'm sure there's a few things I'm missing. The design has gone out of it's way to encourage sexualization and fan-art without just being in underwear. I literally got an erotic photo as a "customers also viewed" suggestion when looking at the game on Amazon

Ah yes, the fetish of cleavage and short shorts.  How vile.

It bugs me how those are seen as "wrong."  I'm not a clothing designer nor do I know much about fashion but I think this looks good.

I have none of vocabulary to say why it's "good," or looks cool and if you don't like it I can't argue why you are wrong.  But on Era it's called "poor design," without any reason given.  Womens lingerie which costs $100's of dollars (I assume) is just as flesh baring and people have to go to school to learn how to design them.

Sex=Bad isn't an argument.  It's a righteous indigent response.

https://glimpse-editor.org/about/

Quote
What is wrong with the “GIMP” name?

If English is not your first language, then you may not have realised that the word “gimp” is problematic. In some countries it is considered a slur against disabled people and a playground insult directed at unpopular children. It can also be linked to certain “after dark” activities performed by consenting adults.

You may think that this is “political correctness gone mad” and that those who have been complaining about it for more than a decade are “over-sensitive”, but this choice does have real-life consequences. In addition to the pain it can cause to marginalized communities many of us have our own free software advocacy stories about the GNU Image Manipulation Program not being taken seriously as an option by bosses or colleagues in professional settings.

Educational institutions and public libraries may feel unable to provide or recommend the program to students due to possible legal or moral concerns. It can also be difficult for a teacher to keep a class of school-age children disciplined and focussed if they are distracted by the name of the computer program they have been asked to use.

We believe free software should be accessible to everyone, and in this case a re-brand is both a desirable and very straightforward fix that could attract a whole new generation of users and contributors.
Quote
What initially motivated you to fork?

In recent versions of the upstream software you may have noticed that the window titles have switched to “GNU Image Manipulation Program” and the documentation suggests expanding the acronym as a work-around for the bad name. However, we do not think that adequately addresses the issue because the website domain, documentation and wider community still refers to it as “the Gimp” just as they have done for the last two decades.

Feature requests have been raised about the problem multiple times on the project’s communication channels over the last 13 years, but each time they are ignored, dismissed and/or the discussions get spammed by those with strong political views.

It is unfortunate that we have to fork the whole project to change the name, but we feel that discussions about the issue are at an impasse and that this is the most positive way forward.
Quote
What if I find the word “Glimpse” offensive?

This seems unlikely given we checked its meaning in every known language, but if you have a legitimate concern then let us know.

If you are offended by the fact we renamed the project, we suggest you continue using the GNU Image Manipulation Program instead of annoying our contributors and making more work for our moderators.
Quote
We also want to make it clear that we value and encourage diverse representation in leadership positions within our community, and we believe that is the best way to form a code of conduct that protects all contributors, promotes wider participation and ensures the rules are fairly enforced. At this early stage our initial governance team is formed entirely of individuals from marginalized communities, and that makes our project very atypical. That emerged organically as a result of the project starting on the fediverse.

We know how important it is to enact the right code of conduct and enforce the rules properly. We want to promote a safe and inclusive environment, not a toxic one. If you have ideas to help us do that and want to get involved with this discussion then please join us in the project’s communication channels.
Quote
Code of Conduct
Our Pledge

In the interest of fostering an open and welcoming environment, we as contributors and maintainers pledge to making participation in our project and our community a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.

Our Standards
Examples of behavior that contributes to creating a positive environment include:

    Using welcoming and inclusive language
Being respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences
    Gracefully accepting constructive criticism
Focusing on what is best for the community
Showing empathy towards other community members

Examples of unacceptable behavior by participants include:

The use of sexualized language or imagery and unwelcome sexual attention or advances
Trolling, insulting/derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks
    Public or private harassment
Publishing others’ private information, such as a physical or electronic address, without explicit permission
Other conduct which could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting

Our Responsibilities
Project maintainers are responsible for clarifying the standards of acceptable behavior and are expected to take appropriate and fair corrective action in response to any instances of unacceptable behavior.

Project maintainers have the right and responsibility to remove, edit, or reject comments, commits, code, wiki edits, issues, and other contributions that are not aligned to this Code of Conduct, or to ban temporarily or permanently any contributor for other behaviors that they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful.

Scope
This Code of Conduct applies within all project spaces, and it also applies when an individual is representing the project or its community in public spaces. Examples of representing a project or community include using an official project e-mail address, posting via an official social media account, or acting as an appointed representative at an online or offline event. Representation of a project may be further defined and clarified by project maintainers.

Seems like a lot of transphobes bought this game recently to support the devs shitty views. Which is really worrying me. What kind of message does this send? Be a shitty person and get an influx of asshole dollars? :(
That's the message they want to send, yeah. And it works, too, at least some of the time. 3D Realms took it to heart. It's why GOG and CDP Red behaved the way they did last year. They outright threw their own customers under the bus to score points with the alt-right.

I was a big customer of GOG for ten years, from before they even opened their doors to the public up until they told me that my money wasn't good enough for them anymore. It's fine for them, though. They have the customers they really wanted.

There are interviews with people who have traveled to China to receive kidneys and livers in 2 weeks time. It's well known how fast it is procure there. It's impossible to get organs that fast in any other Western nation. China is definitely killing people for these organs.
You can't think of any other explanation? Find some global data and let's see how China compares to other middle and low income countries. If they're really this huge outlier you might even convince me they'd up to no good. But it's easy to believe they really are that much faster at legitimate organ donation because they're so fast at everything else - construction pace is ridiculous.

I don't really know if that sale discount is deliberate. The game itself is a normal 35% off. The bundle discount is then calculated automatically. Obviously they still could have planned this but it could also be a coincidence.

I got a 42% discount at my region. :yeshrug

Dunno if is deliberate or not, I just stopped caring if they are shit eaters or just clueless given how hard they got flammed at Twitter.

I dunno, if intentional the joke is vile but the drama as a whole has just being gossip and bitching.

Lol, the image was removed by the mods. You guys should at least admit that you are a controversial gaming community. After the Ion Fury fiasco is obvious that a lot of people will start to hate the community outside of the Neogaf/RE social sphere.

the review bombing both ways exactly cancels itself out

14 and 7 vs. 17 and 4

but then today there's way more positive than negative

also single digit numbers?  look at this level of raging controversy  :whew

Being fair, I didn’t knew about the game until RE started to rage on.

I still don't even know what the deal is with this game, isn't it a significant other of the dev who is phobic and not any of the devs themselves?
