Those dudes that were fired by Blizzard were ostensibly contractors for the company. Grandmasters are paid a weekly salary (as long as they don't get relegated) and casters only have that gig through Blizzard.

In what world do these people live in, where they think you can say politically charged comments in public while "on the clock"?

So, while the punishment was too harsh, it's not out-of-bounds for what to expect when you operate in the real world.

no one is surprised there was a punishment. blitzchung even said he expected a punishment. the reaction from most is to the overly harsh nature of the punishment for everyone involved.

if this dude said "make america great again" there's very little chance that every dollar he made would be revoked, and he'd get booted off the tour and a ban from the game. not to mention the announcers interviewing him would almost certainly not also be fired.

I understand the consequences. I'm well read on nutrition, I have spent long stretches of my life either lifting or running or both. I've been 185 lbs, then I've been 155 lbs. I'm going to hit 185 again soon. I don't fit in most of my clothes anymore.

But I can't stop eating. I'm constantly losing my mind over the news, I hate my body more with each passing day, I hate being looked at or touched. But I make too many sandwiches. Eat too many veggie straws and fritos and chocolate covered pretzels and chocolate chip muffins and cookies of all kinds. I eat and eat and eat and I can't stop. I binge myself to the point of pain near-daily.

I know I could probably classify it as an eating disorder, but my health insurance won't get me quality therapy for this. I've tried. So I wonder if there's one crazy trick that will get my bad habits under control that doctors hate or whatever.

- I lift on and off, FitnessERA approved type of real workouts. I'm not super strong but I'm not weak either. Would probably look nice if I got this fat off, and I know lifting consistently would help. But again, the eating.

Haha from all the bans, it's pretty clear the REE narrative is that it is definitely blackface. So why even allow the discussion? What is there to discuss when the mods/admins already unified on what this is?

From my opinion, it's a moot point because anyone wearing a deliberately goofy mask of Obama is 99% doing it specifically to mock and degrade him as a person, so that person would be terrible just from the outset of it.

These are private companies, it's their right not to want to be associated with hateful content like Winnie the Poo, the ok sign or a green frog, it's absolutely not censorship. Never mind that hate speech is not free speech. I hope people who watch Winnie the Poo are put on a list are unable to travel, find employment, get internet access or have a bank account. They're basically sub-humans anyways who literally believe over 1 billion people shouldn't even exist.

I'm going to write a letter to the ADL and SPLC and make sure they get this disgusting bear added to their lists so that can trickle down into all the censorship moderation algos used by mega-corps to automatically censor user generated content.

https://www.resetera.com/threads/eurocosplay-ban-league-of-legends-cosplayer-for-alleged-blackface.146227/post-25339360

It's a blog post from a shitty site that generates content by letting bloggers/tumblrkin to fart out posts and ask for donations from other bloggers/tumblrkin that are dumb enough to do it for the culture.

And here's some quotes from the "article" she's claiming "accurately touches the heart of this issue."

Quote
Historically, white people used to dress up as black people to make fun of them and it was blatantly racists.

Sure, sure blackface is obviously a relic of the past when black people were openly mocked for looking different and used as a way to spread racism and stereotypes about them, yeah but those minstrel shows are nothing like a fully accurate full-body costume like this at all.

Quote
Cosplayers should love THEIR skin color and not alter it for their character. The whole point of cosplaying, at least for myself and many others, is to NOT be yourself for however long the convention is.

 :hmm

So the whole point, because this random blogger speaks for the entire community, is to be someone different from yourself, which of course logically follows the declaration that you shouldn't alter your skin color for your costume because you should love your skin color, except that it doesn't at all and that don't make no sense.

Quote
Personally, I enjoying seeing cosplayers take a character and change it and make it new again and that is what cosplaying is—freedom of expression not rigid "cannon" standards that cause you to feel bad about yourself if you're not dark enough to cosplay a character.

 :rage :rage :rage

lmao but you damn white people making elaborate prosthetic costumes to express your appreciation for a character can get that ass banned

lmao grammar

lmao writing this long of a post to defend quasi black face
