LA at 60 is going to outsell Mana at 40 at least 5 to 1 (prob more like 15 to 1) because its worth it and no one outside of forums cares about mana or has played LA.

I think you're reading that wrong. They're supposedly going to change the way the Network works to be sort of a proto-modern-time while also still having it be within the 2020/late 80's Usenet sort of style.
Oh, hmm. I had just read an interesting comment about the Internet and anonymity especially vis a vis how the Internet was pre-IE dominance for example and then the Internet with Facebook and the return of real names. I think it would be interesting to jump from that original step where the Internet never had its period of anonymity being the dominant paradigm, which it had for twenty years or so in our real world.

Skipping everything to just being planted in our heads is still a fun little idea, especially if it prevents anonymity in the world's canon. I think dealing with that ramification is quite a cyberpunky type idea, especially compared to most Sci-Fi which is typically suspect of anonymity.

Main thing I find amusing is how much people are going "THAT'S NOT CYBERPUNK AT ALL" while everything that gets described or shown about the game/world sounds pretty much like it's pretty much right up the alley.

And it got re-released on the 3DS eShop.  But yeah, not many played a ZELDA game on the mega-popular GAMEBOY back in the day.   :doge

Actually, between those DX re-releases and SNES to GBA ports, Nintendo's been doing "remasters" for quite a long time now that I think about it. I wonder if they know quite what the sell through is on them.

Those GBA games for example make me imagine they're massively sold to people who already own the original. Like I imagine the people who wanted to play LTTP, SMB3, etc. on the go are not the kids propping up the DBZ, Yu-Gi-Oh, etc. games that dominated the other part of the sales charts back then. Then again, I think Minish Cap is one of the worst selling Zelda's so the audience for that on the GBA just might have been small overall.

edit:
Oracle of Seasons + Oracle of Ages: 3.96 million
LTTP GBA: 1.81 million
Minish Cap: 1.76 million
Phantom Hourglass: 4.76 million

interesting, this tells me absolutely nothing about my theories :doge

I played it, im talking about potential buyers now.

So for most people a remake of a 25 year old game is just a new game. They wont feel like himu saying its not worth it.

Great, but...no, since a huge amount of people buying video games today are the same kids/teens who first played these games 25+ years ago.  :doge

So that switch version of Last Remnant—does anyone know if the gameplay has been touched since the og Xbox 360 release? It’s a fun game but I recall unentertaining difficulty spikes.

All versions after 360 were fixed / updated to allow you to create teams using all the stupid OP characters. It's the way to play it now.

So Retro Studios, their premier developer for hardcore nerds, will now not release anything between 2014 and 2021-3? :snoop

Meanwhile LM3 is like the most impressive looking Nintendo game since Mario Kart 8 and how I envisioned Nintendo HD games to be - not like those Fire Emblem and Pokemon things that look like Falcom could've made them :goldberg

RE and Pokemon look a bit rough tech-wise for sure, but AC New Horizons looks about as good as I expected (and it'll definitely get some more passes in the next 9 months before release, like New Leaf did.)

For real though, MK8 set such a high bar for Nintendo-in-HD (and pretty early in the Weeeooo's life, too!)

I think Travis Strikes Again made it canon already.

EDIT: Never mind; Bad Girl was in NMH1.  So then maybe it can be ignored if you count TSA as the second game.

Now that's a way to ignore a sequel you don't like... just wallpaper over it with a "sequel" of your own and use the numbered title for the next major game like that was the plan all along. :lol

Torchlight II announced for consoles "with exclusive new content":

Quote
Originally developed by Runic Games, the sequel to the award-winning Torchlight game received critical acclaim when it was released on PC in 2012. Thanks to the team at Panic Button, Torchlight fans can relive the glory of this classic dungeon crawler, while a new generation of console players now get to experience this unique world of hack ‘n’ slash gaming. Now including updates and new content exclusive to consoles, Torchlight II will release digitally worldwide for $19.99 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 system, and Xbox One.

Torchlight II invites adventurers to Vilderan, a sprawling continent filled with monsters and adventure at every turn. Like the original Torchlight game, the sequel sets itself apart from other action RPGs with a charming art style, frantic combat, signature pet system and deep character customization. The console version retains these signature mechanics while adding enhanced controls, an improved targeting system and a new interface designed specifically with console gamers in mind. Players will also discover updated achievements and trophies to earn through gameplay, plus brand new pets making their debut exclusively on console. In addition, Nintendo Switch users will have the opportunity to play Torchlight II with their friends via wireless play, allowing up to four players to connect multiple Nintendo Switch consoles together via a local wireless connection.

I think the birthrights or fates or whatever the last 3ds fire emblem was that was a remake didn’t have a weapons triangle.

It played a bit different but it was fine.

Torchlight 2 is good for one playthrough on normal difficulty with each class and that is all

they didn't playtest it at higher difficulties and the math falls apart instantly

armor is subtractive so enemies are dealing 37,000 damage per hit and your armor absorbs 400 of that

every class is a glass cannon no matter what

GI looks up rezzed with some smoothing on the player sprites (if they were/are sprites), I suppose that's cool. Would like to hear how the JP voices sound and hope they have retranslated it to match that text cause the original one was uh... kinda bad. Sony got in a bidding war with Working Designs over international distribution for it and that apparently wound up being the majority of their budget going by how the text and va work turned out.

on the press release it says it's the original English and Japanese translations
Quote
Enhanced details to UI, sprites, and texture art
Original cinematic videos receiving visual enhancements

RPG Site talked to them: https://www.rpgsite.net/feature/8611-grandia-hd-collection-meeting-with-gungho-at-e3-2019-and-hands-on-impressions
Quote
GungHo has sent the following statement regarding the PlayStation/Saturn base.

"We want to be clear, the GRANDIA HD Collection are not ports of the original PlayStation games, they are remasters. We are using the original PlayStation code of GRANDIA, but working with the Sega Saturn version to craft the definitive version of this beloved RPG."

After we asked if GungHo could offer more clarification, GungHo replied:

The team is primarily using the Saturn version as a reference point, working to match details and effects from that version of the game.
Quote
Mr. Minagawa explained that as many art assets as possible were touched up for this release. Character sprites & portraits, enemy sprites, environment model art,  and UI elements like icons & text. A few menu digits could not be replaced, but most of the UI has clearly received touch-ups. This did give the character sprites, to my eye in my time with the game, a slightly smeared look. There will not be options to choose original sprites.

Not everything will be enhanced, however, as audio quality will be the same as the PSX version. Also, while Grandia II got a new Hard Mode in its re-release in 2015, no such new additions will be made to the original Grandia.

One of the new additions to this re-release, besides dual-audio support, is that of French and German subtitle tracks.

There will not be options to choose original sprites.

the original Grandia had an AWFUL translation though. Why don't companies retranslate anymore?
