would make it hard to be online only/no offline mode since it's a portable and most people expect to be able to play games while on the subway or whatever, especially for an ostensibly single player game

e: i forgot D3 is on switch and that's online only too (iirc)

They had that in the demo, but some dev somewhere said that they weren't sure about from say, between one town to another you've already unlocked on your map, which is like "lol no." But the game is a long way from being released and even then it will get iterated upon. And if there's one thing the Diablo community is good at, it's bitching, so I'm confident shit like that will get fixed eventually.

Watching the livestream of actual gameplay and it looks so much like Diablo 3 now lmao. Animations and flow seem straight from D3. We might end up in a situation where all these games end up playing the same but with weird window dressings to separate them

People are positive on it so far. The change doesn't really reduce complexity either, and actually opens up more options, since you can have more than two 6-links now.

Not going to lie, that POE2 trailer looked better then D4.

I rewatched the D4 trailer again afterwards and it looked very cartoony.

Ill really need a new xbox for this and D4.

My first impression from that article is that the development sounds similar to their previous games, where not much was sacred and entire systems and mechanics would be significantly changed or thrown out if they weren’t exciting or engaging enough. Which has me maybe mildly hopeful that the game will be a good Diablo game? I don’t know that I’ll ever play it, but still I suppose that’s something.

It’s certainly weird to see that title of the article in relation to a game that doesn’t even have a whiff of a release date, though.

...apparently you're gonna be able to have an insane amount of customization for your character in D4. Some of this shit strikes me very much in the same vein as all of the "oh yeah listen to all these cool features we have" the Cyberpunk devs at CDPR tried to sell us and somehow never made it in, tho.
