Getting fed up of addressing this point. I said in the very first post this not a new phenomenon. The difference now is the racists are very visible, highly organised and emboldened by the current political climate.
Difference is back then we didn’t have social media or YouTube, the internet has changed a lot over the last two decades.
Early/mid 2000s internet was the best. Used to visit a dozen forums and no one ever talked about anything other than the forum's subject.

OP never said racism wasn't a thing on the internet, and you are kidding yourself if you think it was anywhere close to what it is now in those old days. Now it is organized, profited off, and spread far and wide by humongous social media machines like Google, Facebook and Youtube. It's also being peddled by cult of personality internet celebrities that every child knows and loves. Nothing like Gamergate ever happened before.
OP so isn't suggesting that "racism is new" but that racists have become emboldened, louder and are better at spreading their message through social media. I just think back to the hype levels of ROS and even the Special Editions back when I was just 5 and I can't even compare it to TROS. The hype train for Avengers Infinity War and Endgame did felt like that.
Nothing has endured like Star Wars and retained such a strong level of popularity, that's really what makes the franchise so special compared to everything else. The worldbuilding in ANH and Empire is second to none even though the nitty gritty of it is bullshit
