I find the posts acting like everything is okay in that community interesting. A massive rift has clearly formed and nothing is really being done to address it, if it even could be feasibly addressed in the first place.

I feel like there's a 50/50 chance that one of the temporarily banned members is petty enough to try and burn the entire site down when they come back, whether via leaking incriminating discord discussions or otherwise. Ketkat almost did it and people kind of forgot about the fact a lot of things didn't really get resolved (acephobic mod, staff unanimously standing behind the ban over an alleged misunderstanding that not a single mod/admin saw issue with until a potential meltdown, etc). Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if she was the impetus once again when she gets back.

Or gate it for users only but I don't think it works for a "general politics" thread. It's also a big thread that must drag some traffic from non users (not just us), hiding it might not be very sound.

Ultimately the solution is "fix ResetERA" so

The tension over the general election is only going to get worse unless the allegations against Biden are conclusively dismissed somehow and the reaching out by his campaign towards the left is effective. ERA issues are not just with the politics talk but it is the salient where you can't ban the problem away unless you decimate a lot of Prominent Members.
