I’d love to see a prominent game dev write a detailed op-ed basically break down the aforementioned points and what is systematically wrong about the hate that the gaming community breeds.Not that Naughty Dog needs someone to take a bullet for them, but to at least show some solidarity between game developers.

After Battlefield V, nothing scares me, worries me nor surprises me anymore. For the last part, all the time. People will end up disliking many decisions you make for a game, and that's fine. There are many complexities involved in making a game, running a service and managing a studio, that an outsider couldn't possibly understand.

Having to guess what your wife wants is an unenviable, impossible position. My wife makes me play this game every Fri/Sat night called "Guess what she wants to eat," and the reward if I guess correctly is nothing, and the punishment if I guess incorrectly is a night of frustration and her being hangry and pissed for 2 hours just because she can't put into words what food she wants to eat. 10 years into our relationship I push back and tell her that I'm not playing the "Guess what you want to eat" game.

The game has been getting concentrated hate campaigns for such a long time that unfortunately it's difficult to determine which flares of anger are generated by reasonable reactions to the direction the story is taking and which are standard right-wing reactionary takes
