Because I don't want to engage in a future where corporate consolidation is this vicious. I have been saying for MONTHS now that publisher lockdowns like this are extremely bad for the industry REGARDLESS of who engages in them, and I don't want to be a part of it.I also don't want to spend over a thousand dollars on multiple consoles just because of a bunch of buyouts that lock games off from one platform without providing any new value to the other.It's just not a business I want to feed into financially or emotionally. I'm beaten down and exhausted and tired of this generation already and the consoles aren't even on shelves yet.

That's kind of what I was saying in my most recent post, buying studios is not what Xbox promised. They said they would build a healthy stable of studios. Buying studios is not what I want out of console makers, I want them to use the money they have into improving things they already own and investing in their studios. Why hasn't there been Banjo? Conker? They did good with Flight Simulator and I am excited for Age of Empires 4, but there are so many games they could have invested in but they decided to take the lazy route and bought the games instead.
I was rooting for MS to come back from a bad generation but I don't like this at all. What if a CEO comes in the future and basically thinks xbox is just wasting money and there are better investments all of these studios will be destroyed or downsized
Some of you thinking this is a win for MS is delusional and no nothing of corporate finance , the economic of opportunity cost, rate of return on investment and it's duration. How long do you think the Xbox division will recoup that $7.5 billion that they needs to fork out now and at what rate will that return be? What is the project's Internal Rate of Return and Net Present Value? It might looks like a good acquisition for people that don't know much about corporate finance and MA but this acquisition looks like a marketing move more than anything.
MS are just bleeding cash everywhere they cant keep on like this, sooner or later someone from MS going to pull the plug if they dont see them making it back

I think this buyout is the worst, I think people are missing the bigger issue with it. Do you really want Microsoft to dominate the industry, I would rather it be balanced and competitive. Also this sets up an arms race and I am not talking about Sony (although it might force their arm,) the last thing we need is Google, Facebook and apple acquiring all the big publisher and developers.

As Phil said, it'll be a case-by-case basis. I imagine most Bethesda games will still be multiplatform, but we may see more timed exclusives on Xbox, maybe even full on exclusives.
