Sonic can be used as a pride mascot and for the gamers! :nepenthe

ahh yes gays being literally killed and erased as we speak.
Edit: They're now seem to be adding in pride flags too lol. VERY COOL!

I see that they don't care about Palestine anymore
Community discussion remembers! A little:
I really don't like the message the E3 icons send. Just comes across to me as "pride is important, but not as important as gaming". I get that it makes sense to have E3 icons (heck, I'm looking forward to it as well) but I just don't think it should be at the expense of pride. Like, I dunno, have a 50/50 chance of getting the E3 icon or a pride icon? It just feels pretty bad to eschew the pride styles entirely.
On that note, I also don't love how the Palestinian flag went away when pride began. It's not like the situation suddenly got fixed when June 1st began, and I don't want this to be a situation where it's like, "well, it's pride now, time to forget about Palestine." Both are important, and pride shouldn't overshadow the crimes committed against the Palestinian people, just as E3 shouldn't overshadow pride.
I'd also argue that even for gaming hype, E3 colors are a bad taste, what with their mishandling of journalist data a few years back and their general "boys' club" mentality, especially so during pride, but that's a different thing entirely.
I don't want to be mean especially as maybe it's just wording, but your references to "the pride logo" and "the pride flag" makes it sound to me like you didn't necessarily pay much attention to what was there to begin with and maybe shouldn't speak so strongly about solutions a result? (It wasn't just one thing.)
In any case, I really feel you're overthinking it. One would expect that something happening for pride month happens for the month, right? Prioritizing these E3 banners undercuts whatever sense of meaning they had. We can agree the Palestinian flag leaving the rotation could have been more clearly communicated as I agree with what underFlo posted on that, but I think the expectation for the pride ones is pretty reasonable.
Also going to say I absolutely do not believe at all that "everyone here" cares about these issues when we're talking about the broader userbase of this site, lmao. Not at all. Not even slightly. Not for a second. But these logos don't really change that either way.
But, really, does a gaming forum
reallly have to debase itself by celebrating gaming stuff instead of just focusing on what matters?
I mean my solution is that I don't feel like they both have to be present to begin with, but in particular replacing one with the other was a weird unforced error? This isn't about something about generic as each needing unique cosmetic site features. If having those flags there was supposed to mean something, going "wait, hold on, pause that for a few days because you know what's also meaningful? Mario's face" is just very weird.
Like why does E3 need its own unique cosmetic site feature like pride month to begin with? It's just E3. We're going from the Palestinian flag to pride flags, suddenly interrupted by... Mario's face and Pac-Man?
It's truly impressive how quickly the site banner thing went from a surprise to a vital component of drawing attention to the real, meaningful issues.
Also the presence of the DQ slime? In Pride month of all months?
The Dragon Quest Slime icon feels especially tone deaf considering the series’ composer Koichi Sugiyama has shared his anti-LGBT views in the past. Not a great look during pride month; though i’d argue replacing the pride icons in the first place sends a bad message, but I’m clearly not the only person who thinks that.
Oh yeah this is especially a good point. I know we all love the Slime but right now is a real bad time to give it focus.
Maybe the logos can stay (excluding Slime) but the site's title rotates through Pride flags? Or keep the flags in the logo but keep the E3'd site title until it's over, since that never changed in the first place. Kinda like "fuck yeah video games and Pride! Video games belong to Pride! You aren't getting one without the other here on ERA!"
